google home mini randomly going off

martin234
Community Member

Hello, I threw away my google home mini because i barely used it and all it would do is annoy me. It always randomly says stuff in the middle of the night at max volume like “HELLO HOW CAN I HELP YOU TODAY” and it even randomly sets an alarm at 5am and goes off. It just felt creepy that it would always do this in the night when i would be sound asleep. I just wanted closure about why this happens thank you.

Hi martin234,

This is a community forum supported by other users and community specialist's so we don't have access to your account information. You can view what Google accounts are linked with your devices within the Google Home app and you can also see your Google assistant activity from the link below.

Regards,
Cathal

I turned off the setting for others to cast onto the google. And I can see my activity but just seeing it does not help my case as I know what activity occurs. Once again, It wakes me up at 4:58, then right after at 4:59 an alarm goes off. I never tell it to do this, this is so strange

To confirm, I’m not near a TV, and it’s not accidental mumbling or anything. I never ask to set those alarms at those times yes it happens every. single. night. It’s driving me nuts and I really will throw it out if it keeps happening haha

Hi folks,

@Cathal_S, I really appreciate the help.

@martin234, thank you for the information. Let’s try first the sequential reboot starting with your Wi-Fi router followed by your Google Home Mini. Restarting your phone might also help. If you can, why not remove your Home Mini from the Home app and link it back up.

Keep me posted.

Best,

Dan

Happy to hear that those steps worked for you! It looks like we can consider this one complete, so I will lock the thread shortly unless I can help out with anything else.
