iPhone notifications

KTZ
Community Member

I recently had the Google Nest doorbell installed with my ADT. Now if I misplace my iPhone and ask Google “ Hey Google find my phone”. It sends a “notification tone” rather than “25 sec ring” to my iPhone to find it. (Not an issue before installation) I’ve searched for hours on YouTube and Google search to fix my issue. Can somebody give this non tech Senior step by step instructions on how to get My iPhone to ring to find it should I lay it down and forget where I put it?

My parents have been having the same problem.  The "find my phone" feature used to work fine with their iPhones (in tandem with a Nest Hub Max or Nest Audio), but it stopped working about a month or two ago, seemingly out of the blue.

I've been trading emails with Google Support for the past month, but they claim that they are still working on a "fix".

Super frustrating.

Hey KTZ,

Thanks for sharing details about the issue here. I know how challenging it is when you're having issues with one of the features of your Google Home/Nest device. Let's get to the bottom of this. A few questions: when did the issue start? Do you have an active voicemail on your phone? What is the current version of the Google Home and Assistant app on your phone?

@JJsomanytabs: It looks like your issue is a bit different from OP's post. Your concern is about not getting a notification at all when using the "Find my phone" feature. The team is aware of this and looking into the issue at hand. We recommend you to send feedback on your speakers, and use the keywords: "GHT3 Find my phone not working iOS." Make sure to replicate the issue first before sending feedback. You can also visit this link to learn more.

Keeps us posted.

Cheers,

Muddi

To clarify, my issue is what KTZ stated, that the system "sends a “notification tone” rather than “25 sec ring”".  When trying to locate an iPhone, a solitary notification is simply not useful.  A sustained ring is what is needed.

YES! This is my issue!

Thank you for your response to my issue. Your help is still needed. Google Mini Notifies me with a single tone. But if I lose my iphone in my house, a single tone doesn't give a sound long enough to hear so I can locate my iphone. I need to hear it ring while I am searching. Thank you for your help in this matter.

Hey JJsomanytabs,

Thanks for clarifying. Please proceed with sending feedback. Make sure to replicate the issue first, then immediately send feedback via voice command by saying, "Hey Google, send feedback," then use the keywords: "GHT3 Find my phone not working iOS." This will help the team to investigate the issue further.

Let me know once done.

I did exactly as directed and Google said, " Thanks I will send this to my inventors."  Frustrating to not be able to find my iphone if misplaced.

The "GHT3 Find my phone not working iOS" action was completed weeks ago and, like I said, I already have an active ticket open with Nest Support--on my behalf on my parents--and have been actively trading emails with Nest Support for over a month, but all to no avail.

Sure, the case ID number is 9-7341000032540.

Their last response (July 6) was "Our Higher Support team is still looking into the issue."

The case itself has been open since at least June 2.

I did this as well since I am having the same issue with my iphone 11 iOS 15.5. Worked perfectly a few weeks ago and now suddenly it just stopped. Only get a notification, no ring.

Im having the same issue. Since ADT google nest door bell is installed, my iphone doesnt ring for 25 seconds but just give notification beeps. This is extremely frustrating because I cannot find my phone with one quick beep.

This issue definitely isn't fixed.

Both of my parents still have this issue.

Please leave this thread open (until the issue is definitely resolved), so that other users can add their experiences.

Not fixed for me

I am deaf in one ear and over 62.  I would have to repeatedly ask Google to find my phone over and over.  Frustrating.  I get a Crititcal Alert when ask Google to find my iphone.

I can get Google to send me critical alers with about 5 beeps but not a 25 second ring.  Not sure if this is going to be considered fixed for me since I am deaf in one ear and older than 62

Thank you for checking in with me. The Last post I read was they found what the issue was regarding the ring of locating my iPhone and are working on the solution. I think it was Muddi that was able to get me back on the correct thread.  I will keep checking.  I greatly appreciate the search for an answer. As a matter of fact, I misplaced my iPhone and had to ask Google multiple times to ring my phone since it doesn't give the 25 second ring.  I'm grateful for the team effort.
Blessings,
KTZ

Hey folks,

Just checking in on this thread. Does anyone still have the same issue?

Cheers,

What do you mean?!  In your previous post, you said that you would update US when the team provided you with additional information to share.  We've been patiently waiting for a fix for months!

Often times, it seems like this community forum prioritizes closing threads much more than actually helping people with their issues.  Very frustrating.

Hello Muddi,

Yes, still having this issue and still have not heard any answer on a solution! Waiting and hoping one will come up!

I am having an issue with following all the threads. I replied before but was not posted.  I can have my Google Mini find my phone now through "Critical Alerts". It rings several times when I ask Google  to "find my phone".  I don't recall it using critical alerts before, but it rings 9 times now and I can now find my iphone when I misplace it and it is loud and long enough that with my deaf ear, I can find my phone. THank you to the team for continued working on it. The 25 second ring was better than the 9 rings through "Critical Alerts", but it is a start.

Hello. I am having the exact same issue with my Google Home Mini. It used to work just fine with this same phone, my Iphone11, iOS 15.5. Today I just realized that it no longer works. I receive 1 notification with one "ping" sound, and no ring. This is not useful at all!!! I could not find my phone and had to look forever. Please help!!

KTZ

Rachel8, Your issue is the same as mine months ago. Having a deaf ear the ping wasn't good enough. AFter months of frustration not finding my iphone when I misplaced it, it now can be found using "Critical Alerts".  It will ring several times until I find it. (It will ring 9 times for me (I counted the alert rings). Hopefully this will help you.

God bless,

KTZ
