Hi there. I have enabled the look and talk feature on my Nest Hub max, the camera is off [it is in 'Home' mode so it is off, there is no green camera light], the language setting is English [Australia], it is not streaming anything and it is not in guest mode.
When I approach it and look at the camera, the grey dots in the top left corner move [it detects and recognises me]. I ask a question 'what is the weather today' [a very easy test question obviously]. The coloured bars move [so it is detecting that I am speaking].
And then that is it, it goes straight to coloured dots and provides no answer. I am staring directly at the camera during all of this.
I then say 'Hey Google what's the weather today' and it answers me as normal. !!!
I have tried this over 20 times with different easy test questions and absolutely nothing, no response. The same question asked a minute later with 'hey google' in front of it, produces the normal correct spoken answer.
I have turned the Hub device off from the power source and back on. Still does not work.
Answered! Go to the Recommended Answer.

Hey kyliejane,
Sorry to hear that you're still having the same issue. Could you change the language settings to English (US), then check if you'll still have the same issue. Also, please check if your device is on Fuchsia by going to the device settings on the Google Home app or swipe up the screen then go to device info.
Looking forward to your response.
Cheers,
Muddi

I'm having exactly the same issue. Google support are looking into it but havent resolved it yet despite rolling out a supposed fix.

I'm having exact same problem, spent hours on phone with Google resolution person but still not working. Hope they fix it soon

Hey all,
I am sorry to hear you are running into issues with the look and talk feature. I understand this is not an ideal situation. I did find an article with some details on the feature. Please let me know if that helps out, or if you have any questions from here.
Best regards,
Jake

Thanks Jake for getting back to me,

Hi Jake, ditto, thanks for your reply but that article is literally the first thing that I read to see if there was something that I somehow hadn't done!!! [I referenced all of the steps in my original post ;)]

Yes mine just mysteriously starting working again not sure why or what happened but it's been working since, maybe there was a software update ?

No mine is still not working - have unplugged and replugged from the wall but still exactly as I said in my original post - "I have enabled the look and talk feature on my Nest Hub max, the camera is off [it is in 'Home' mode so it is off, there is no green camera light], the language setting is English [Australia], it is not streaming anything and it is not in guest mode.
When I approach it and look at the camera, the grey dots in the top left corner move [it detects and recognises me]. I ask a question 'what is the weather today' [a very easy test question obviously]. The coloured bars move [so it is detecting that I am speaking].

So not sure why some others have started randomly working but definitely not mine!

Still not working for me either, even after quite an in depth investigation by Google support, which has gone quiet now

Hey kyliejane,
Perfect! Happy to hear that look and talk feature is now working on your device. We've released this feature in all English languages. Please give it a few more weeks or months — we're slowly releasing them.
@101uk: What country are you located in? Also, what language is set on your device?

Hi Muddi I'm in the UK and just tried the fix you mentioned which has indeed worked. Thank you so much!

Hey 101uk,
Excellent! It's nice to know that you're able to enjoy the feature now. It looks like we can consider this one complete, so I will lock the thread shortly unless I can help out with anything else.

Thanks Muddi, that did in fact work!!! Yes it was on Fuschia already and when I changed my Assistant language input to English [US] the feature started working - maybe Google needs to be more specific about what language settings the feature works with - 'English' is all it says in the instructions, and English [US] is not actually, by a long shot, the only 'English' language in Google, let alone in the actual world. Not sure why it would be assumed that everyone in the world is supposed to assume that it is!!
And for my Australian compatriots.....to get rid of the American accent then talking back at you - in Fahrenheit degrees no less! - just go into 'Assistant voice and sounds' and the last one along is the normal female Australian voice, then go into Weather settings and reset your temperature unit from where you'll have it on celsius to fahrenheit, and then back to celsius, worked perfectly 🙂
And for people in the UK having the same issue - the female British voice is the second last one, that you can then change Google's output back to. [That is it though, if they want to use this feature, users of other versions of English will have to choose between 8 American accents or 1 British and 1 Australian!!]
