white noise fade out/in every hour

On 8/24/23, "Princess" posted the following in response to my complaint about the white noise fading out/in every hour and the discontinuation of "help me sleep". I have since asked several times when the issue will be resolved and have received NO response. The fade out/in is unacceptable as it wakes me up - totally defeating the purpose of white noise. My Nest Hub is now just a glorified clock - and I'm not getting what I paid for.

Hello folks,

We've heard feedback that turning off sleep sounds after 1 hour was insufficient for some of our users, so we made the decision to remove the end time. We're currently investigating ways to build a comparable solution and appreciate your patience.

Best,

Princess

Hi ,

Thank you for reaching out to the community. I'm sorry to hear that your Nest Hub is not working as expected with the White Noise fading out/in every hour and the discontinuation of Help Me Sleep. I'm happy to assist you right now.

Reading the previous case you sent me as a reference, I see we suggest some steps. Can you please confirm if you do the troubleshooting steps listed below?

  • Say, Hey Google, talk to Help Me Sleep, and when prompted, follow along. Hey Google, ask Help Me Sleep to play white noise for 10 hours.
  • If you do not need it to stop at a particular time, you could say the following command after it starts playing the sound you mentioned. Hey Google, stop at 6 am or the time you prefer.
  • Refresh all your devices by doing a sequential reboot again.
  • Unplug your router.
  • Restarting your phone.
  • Try to use another relaxing sound.
  • Factory reset your Google Nest Hub (factory reset deletes all the information).
  • Set up the Google Nest Hub in the Google Home app.
  • Nest display, swipe up, and if you see the letter “A” on the icon at the bottom left part of the settings tray, disable it.
  • Have you tried something else that is important to mention that can help us to give you better assistance?

Any additional details you can provide will be helpful.

Regards,

Gabriela

Are you suggesting that the fade out/in every hour will stop if I do those things? Do you even know what I'm referring to?

The app "Help me Sleep" was discontinued (as a Google partner) in June 2023. The command may work to get white noise. But you get the same fade out/in as you get if you just simply ask Google to "play white noise for 10 hours" ... there is NO difference. The fade out/in was NOT happening when Google was working with "help me sleep". Every hour from when it starts, it fades out to nothing and then fades in again (over a 20-30 second period). I have found numerous complaints in this forum and other places and NO solution - even though, as you can see by Princess' response, Google has promised a solution.

To answer your questions ... Yes, I have done ALL of those things over the last 18 months. Some of them multiple times. I just did many of them again - and I'm still getting the fade out/in.
