I've had a similar issue with my Chromecast remote while playing sports games. Here are the steps I used to fix it:

  1. Replace Batteries: I checked and replaced the batteries to ensure they were fresh.
  2. Restart the Remote: I removed the batteries, waited a few seconds, and put them back in.
  3. Re-Pair the Remote: I held down the Back and Home buttons for 5 seconds until the LED started blinking, which reconnected the remote.
  4. Factory Reset Chromecast: I held the button on the Chromecast device for 25 seconds until the LED changed color.
  5. Use Google Home App: I used my phone as a remote with the Google Home app as a temporary solution.
  6. Contact Support: If nothing else worked, I contacted Google Support for help or considered getting a new remote.

These steps helped me get back to enjoying my game  smoothly.

Hello @DDnn99

Thanks for reaching out to our Nest community. Sorry to hear about this situation with your Chromecast. Don't worry, I'm here to help you with that.

You can try to remove, then reinsert the Voice Remote batteries; also, unplug the USB-C connection from the Chromecast to disconnect it from the power source and reboot the device. Leave the Chromecast unplugged for one minute, then plug it back in.

Feel free to keep us posting about your situation; I will do my best to find a solution for you.

Best regards,

Douglas.
