2nd Gen Chromecast not working again

abravofarias13

My 2nd Gen Chromecast has gone down once again. It was working earlier this morning. But wanting to cast TSN for the masters, it's not working once again. I have restarted the device multiple times and still not getting it to work. I am not going to factory reset this device due to what happened last time.

same issue here. Factory reset and now it won't reconnect. Says "could not communicate with it from your ipad"

Try and restart your phone, and go to your date and time settings, go back a few days and try to reconnect your chromecast from there.

Same here. Went to bed on Friday with chromecast Gen 2 working just fine. Woke up Saturday unable to cast. App sees the device, attempts to connect to it and just keeps trying to connect without success. Did a factory reset, still no good.

Try and restart your phone, and go to your date and time settings, go back a few days and try to reconnect your chromecast from there.

Hi there,

Thank you very much for contacting this community! Regarding the issue with the Chromecast (2nd Gen) not casting or communicating correctly as expected, thank you for taking the time to go through troubleshooting steps.
In relation to this, I'd like to share some additional steps that might help you.

  • Delete the Google Home app (to clear potential cache issues preventing the update).
  • Disconnect Chromecast from TV and power. Wait one minute.
  • Reconnect power to Chromecast (not TV).
  • Hold side button for 12 seconds.
  • LED will blink orange, then turn solid white. Release button. Chromecast will restart.
  • When LED is solid white, add Chromecast as new in Google Home app and wait for update.
  • Set up device after update.
  • Connect it to the TV.

Please follow these steps and inform me of the results.

Best regards,

Eduardo

Hi
I did what you wrote, but it still doesn't work!
It connects to wifi and then I can't send the signal from my phone!

Hi there,

Thank you very much for sharing the results regarding the troubleshooting steps with me recently. I would like to share some additional things that might help resolve this issue.

  • Make sure that they're on version 3.30.1.6 for Android and 3.30.106 for iOS.
  • Make sure that the Google Home app is up to date.
  • If you're trying to cast, make sure the casting app or browser is up to date.
  • Try setting up the device via a mobile hotspot (If possible).

Keep me posted.

Best regards,

Eduardo
