Access from Google TV (Chromecast) to DLNA Server via Wifi

Is there a way to access pictures and videos stored on a DLNA Server (Router) in my Wifi directly from Chromecast rather than accessing the pictures on the server via smartphone and streaming them from the smartphone on Chromecast?

Install Kodi in the Chromecast and you can use that to access a DLNA server. I have that exact setup. However, I usually use the DLNA client built into our smart TV instead, as if I stop watching a video part way through, it restarts at the correct point when I resume at some later time. Kodi as a DLNA client doesn't do that - if I stop watching a video, when I go back to it, it restarts at the beginning.

Just read somewhere that Chromecast does not have a DLNA Client. So I always need to use my smartphone 😞
