Ever since the last update, I instead of the screensaver turning on, Chromecast would go to sleep, giving me a black TV screen with a message on my TV saying "no signal". I turned developer mode on and toggled on" stay awake "with some success. But now I have to select ambient mode or it stays on the home screen. Furthermore, when I select ambient mode, it only stays on for a few hours and then reverts back to the home screen.

Hi Meowmixmeg,
Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community. Enabling Developer Mode and changing things under Developer Options changes the way the device functions. That is why it is intended for developers, so they can do their coding, etc. I suggest you perform a manual factory reset, then set it up from scratch. Ensure that the option for "Automatically turn off TV" is set to never. Let us know how it goes.
Thanks,
Kimy

Hi Meowmixmeg,
Thanks for the reply. Kindly turn off the developer mode, then check if you already received the August-September patch update. Most of the identified bugs were included in that patch fix. Let us know how it goes.
Thanks,
Kimy

Hello Meowmixmeg,
It’s been a while, and thanks for the reply. A patch fix after the version STTE.230319.008.H1 helped with this particular issue. Did you have a chance to get that update? For some users that’s still affected, there’s an ongoing update that will be rolled out in the coming days. It includes patch fixes for most of the recognized bugs. It should be the versions STTE.230615.004 and STTE.230615.004.1 where this patch fix kicks in. Once you have the update available, make sure to install it. If it's not available yet, give it a few more days. Keep us posted.
Regards,
Kimy
