Apps “not available in region” but I am looking at Australian apps in Australia

Hi there - I recently got a new Google TV streamer. It was bought in Australia and my region on my Google Account was actually automatically updated by Google about 7 months ago (in May). My home address in my Google Account is Australia yet for any of the Australian TV apps my Google TV say “This item is not available in your country”. Additionally I have noticed that the Google TV streamer is letting me access Irish tv apps (my previous location & region). 

I am at a loss of where else I need to change my region when my Terms of Service for my Google account states Australia. I have also tried to factory reset my Streamer but still have the same problem.

Hi, I’m in USA and have the same problem. 

Hi I was in the same situation yesterday. I managed to fix this by making a new google account and resetting the google tv to the favtory settings. After that you can go ahead and download those apps and just add your real google account to the google tv afterwards.

Just talk after 2hours on phone with customer service and they said it’s damaged tv and I should go to store change it for new one. They don’t have same one than I just returning this tv and buy different one. Good luck

Before we continue, I have some questions: 

  1. Have you tried using another account in your Google TV Streamer?
  2. As @Bandobando mentioned, have you tried to create another account?
  3. Have you tried to change the location manually in account settings?
  4. What other troubleshooting steps have you taken to solve this issue?

Hi @Derickf,

I do not have a second Google Account nor do I feel it should be necessary for me to create a new one for a Google branded device to recognise the changes made to a Google account and adjust accordingly. 
I have gone through everywhere I can an address/location and ensured it is showing Australia. On my most recent look through my account I saw that my legal address connected to my payment ID had not updated to Australia so I hoped that would fix the issue. I have updated it, reset my TV Streamer and still faced with the same issues - interestingly the “suggested” apps as it were on my TV Streamer are all Australian apps so it does have some idea of my location but still will not let me access them.

Thanks for your reply. Was the reset you did in your Google TV Streamer a restart or a factory reset? If it was only a restart, let's do a factory reset and set the Google TV Streamer again and try using an account created in your current location just to discard if it was an issue with your account.
