Hello,

I have a strange problem with the chromecast.

i can see the menu of the tv and i see the startup of the chromecast but when i want to stream there is audio but no video. The chromecast works fine on a other tv. It worked fine on this tv yesterday, but since today only audio. All the apps are up to date, all the cables are good since it worked on a other tv. I tried resetting the tv and the chromecast but it didnt work. The chromecast and phone are connected on the same wifi. The google home app says its streaming and working fine. Searched and tried all thing i came across on the internet but nothing works. Hope u people have a solution, thanks in advance

Hi @ChielR!

Thanks for posting in the community.
I’m sorry for the inconveniences that you’ve been experiencing with your Chromecast device. I can see that when trying to stream using your regular TV, there is no signal or there is a black screen with audio. You have tested the device using another TV, and it worked. You have also reset the device and the TV, but the issue persists. Let me help you with this.
To further assist you, I need some extra information:

  • What is the exact model of your Chromecast?
  • How far is the device from the router?
  • Have there been any changes to the router settings?
  • Is your phone updated?
  • Is there any LED light on the device when the trouble occurs?

I’ll be waiting for your response.

Regards,

Derick.

Hej Derick,

- i can’t realy find the model nummer or something like that on the chromecast. Its a black one.

- the device is about 6 m from the router, the other tv i tried is about the same distance and it worked there.

- no changes to router

- phone is updated

- the chromecast is giving a white light. On the google home app its connected and streaming

Hi there!

Thanks for your reply and for the information provided. Please follow the steps below to troubleshoot your Chromecast:

  • Shut down the TV completely by turning it off and disconnecting the power cord from the power source.
  • Disconnect the streaming device from the HDMI port. If the streaming device is plugged into the power source, disconnect it.
  • Turn on the TV, then reconnect the power source to the streaming device. Don't put the streaming device into the TV HDMI port.
  • Wait for 30 seconds.
  • Plug the streaming device into an HDMI port on the TV.
  • Change the TV to the same HDMI input as the streaming device.
  • If there are multiple ports available on the TV, try steps 1-6 with a different HDMI port.

Let me know how it goes.

Regards,

Derick.
