Let me start by saying that I have two Chromecast devices at home, one recent and one older....they have always worked.
For more than 3 weeks (I can't tell you the precise version of the app in which it happened, but I'm currently using the latest one) any video you start from the YouTube app towards Chromecast stops after 5/6 seconds and remains on for an indefinite time. "Charging".
This happens on both TVs, both chromecast devices.
After trying everything (replacing the modem, checking the bandwidth, factory resetting the Chromecast, updating the latest YouTube app version, etc, etc) nothing worked.
The IMPORTANT thing is that if I log into YouTube with another account (I have three) the problem DISAPPEARS.
It is clear there is a problem on the YouTube app that occurs in the first 5/6 seconds of video loading with certain accounts.
If I launch the video locally, or another video without using the YouTube app, EVERYTHING WORKS.

I'm having the same issue. I haven't found anything in settings that might let me clear something to get the one account to work again.
I'm tagging along to see what answer you get.

Hi folks,
Thanks for posting and for being a step ahead of us. I’m sorry for the trouble, and this is not the experience that we wanted you to have. Based on your description, accounts logged in affect it. If all other apps are working fine, then this may be isolated to YouTube. I suggest you give our friends at the YouTube Help Community a shout. Other users may have answers for this already. Let us know if you still have questions about your Chromecast device.
Thanks,
Kimy
