I turned on my television today to find that the clock in the bottom right of the Ambient screen became tiny: https://photos.app.goo.gl/TWqNwjNJsM4XCKM8A
It was much better when the large clock component could be seen from across the room. Rebooting the Chromecast and hiding and re-enabling the clock accomplished nothing. This is clearly a bug.
Can the clock be made large again? Thanks!

Hey all,
As some of you have noticed - the issue impacting the size of the clock and weather UI has been fixed. If you are still experiencing this, please try rebooting your Chromecast device. If that doesn't fix the issue, let us know in a reply to this comment. Thank you for your patience.

Hi @radi0star
I suggest sending feedback in addition to posting here. Submit feedback about your Chromecast, Chromecast with Google TV or Google TV Streamer device - Stre... That will get to the correct team.
I did see another user report the same small clock so you aren't alone.

You know what's funny? The in-app feedback feature takes a screenshot of the app. You can't attach a photo of the television. There's no Ambient preview, either. I have filed feedback in text form, but as they say, it's best to see once than to hear a thousand times

Ugh. Thanks for trying and the post you made is feedback and I can send that over to our Community Specialists.
If I see more community members posting I will duplicate them here for visibility to the Chromecast team.
Do appreciate your feedback.

I'm having the same issue on both chromecasts as of several days ago.
01-24-2025 09:10 AM
The feedback system attaches a screenshot of my phone. THE PROBLEM ISN'T WITH MY PHONE'S DISPLAY IT IS WITH THE TV'S DISPLAY.
01-24-2025 09:17 AM
Thanks for @bret_ for your post. I did forward this issue over to the Community team.
01-24-2025 10:50 AM
I too had to describe the issue in the feedback form without attaching a screenshot
01-30-2025 01:20 PM
Make another feedback about the feedback feature being bad
01-24-2025 10:49 AM
Thanks i sent my feedback too. Phone screenshot is not helpful as the problem is on the TV but hope your team can figure that out.

I go to link and it makes me figure out first if device is Android or iOS? It’s my TV and a plug-in device. Those are neither. It’s not just one device it’s all of them. And not just more but many others. Don’t google developers also use google chromecast? If not, why not? If so, why is tiny clock acceptable to them? Why goes google need me to tell them this is jacked? As you say others have already complained about it. Are they ignoring those complaints? Why would mine be any different?

This small small clock thing is so stupid like the old saying goes "if it ain't broke don't fix it." You should be vetting your updates more thoroughly before you push them out and these kinds of things will stop happening.
01-26-2025 06:13 PM
The whole main reason that we kept the Chromecast on the TV 24 hours is the great clock! WTF did Googke do this for, outta your effing minds. The old size was perfect! Most of us don't have 20/15 vision like some Air Force trainee. Besides time IS important. Why is Google delegating it to some 2nd class incidental information????

I too am having this issue, and there is a thread over on reddit with a lot of people experiencing this.

My clock on my tv looks smaller than the photo notation!! please let us change the size back to big clock

Hi radi0star,
Thank you for reaching out to the community. I'm sorry to hear that your Chromecast Ambient Clock element became tiny, but there's no need to worry; I'm happy to assist you right now.
I recommend changing the ambient screensaver settings on your Google Home app. Please follow the steps below:
If you have more questions, please feel free to write in this post.
Regards,
Gabriela

it's not about hiding or showing the clock, there's no option to set the clock size, before the latest update it was big and visible from afar, now it's tiny and in-line with the weather and you cannot see it from a distance, please bring the text scale size back
01-23-2025 03:01 PM
This is a terrible solution. We WANT the time displayed, but in a larger font.

Another zero kudos reply. How many zero kudos replies can you send before your AI bug gets fixed. You’re just saying words but nothing that’s actually helpful to resolve the issue. Indeed, your words don’t even suggest you’ve read, heard or understand what the problem is, yet. How much longer must we interact with a poorly trained robot intent on misconstruing our needs?
01-24-2025 07:38 AM
Older chromecast models do not have an option to adjust font size for ambient mode. It seems the only fix is to buy a newer model that incorporates software to adjust font size.
01-25-2025 03:21 PM
From a reddit thread on the issue, it sounds like for people who had the option to resize the text that the option is gone for them. Everyone seems to be stuck with this now.
01-24-2025 08:52 AM
Well it's pretty clear that you didn't read any of these posts about the size of the ambient mode time display on Chromecast. Now pass this thread on to someone who understands English and has good reading comprehension. Because whether you're real or virtual you're effing stupid.
01-31-2025 05:01 PM
Lol dead
01-23-2025 07:21 PM
Removing the clock makes it disappear. I want the time to be the same size as it's been. I've filled out the feedback form.
On my television the time text is now less than half an inch tall. I cannot read it from ten feet away
01-23-2025 08:46 PM
It’s frustrating when something like this just doesn’t work as expected, especially when the option isn’t even there! I’ve tried everything you suggested, but there’s still no option to bring the clock back to its full size. I NEED that big clock on my screen, and it’s just not happening. Can you help me out with something that actually works? I’ve got to get this fixed.
01-24-2025 12:35 AM
And how exactly does this help? We don’t want to hide clock, we want to be able to see it!
01-24-2025 05:43 AM
Ugh, Gabriela. Your AI suggestion is not helpful. People aren’t complaining because there is no clock. They are upset because it’s so tiny it practically cannot be seen. Where is the setting to make the clock BIGGER? Google chromecast: heal thyself.
01-24-2025 05:48 AM
Zero kudos for that reply, AI Gabriela.
01-24-2025 10:44 AM
As the post above says, reseting to fabric mode, turning on/off, hiding and showing time display Does Not Work.
01-24-2025 12:13 PM
This does not work!!
01-24-2025 01:11 PM
You have to be kidding. Your solution to the clock suddenly being to small is to eliminate the clock all together? If this reply came from AI I glad to see it’s not as smart as everyone thinks it is. If it came from an actual person, please go back and read the original post to understand the actual issue.
01-24-2025 03:14 PM
How is this helpful? The clock is already displayed. Its is now too small to read beyond a few feet away. Your suggestion does not allow for an adjustment in text size.
01-24-2025 05:35 PM
no help here. Basically saying if you don't like the new size then do without and shut it off
01-25-2025 01:53 PM
I did that and make no difference, the font of the time remains small
01-30-2025 07:17 AM
This did not fix the issue. The time is still small
01-30-2025 01:26 PM
Useless!
01-31-2025 06:57 AM
Doesn’t work!!!
01-23-2025 04:12 PM
I'm also having the same problem with the clock size on the ambient mode on the tv screen is too tiny to see.
01-23-2025 06:07 PM
I sure hope that there would be quick and sensible solution to this problem. I use chromecast ultra in ambient mode on a smaller wall mounted TV in my living room. Right now, it's pretty much useless as the items are as small as they are. Not happy at all. Please fix this!
