My CCwGTV 4K received the latest update UTTC.241218.004, now I have Android 14.
This update broke playback of direct live TV stream in all the apps. It looks that all the h.264 FullHD streams are affected. The playback is like slow motion with judder and audio out of sync. All these apps worked perfectly fine before the update. Many users report the same (Reddit).
Source is DVB-C, TS stream from my cable TV provider.
Is this a known problem from Google's side? All the devices still on Android 12 are perfect.

Hi,
Same situation with me! Maybe its related to h.264 codec?
03-17-2025 03:34 AM
I have two Chromecast 4.0 4K, one with Android 12, the other 14.
The one with Android 14 has a problem with H.264
03-17-2025 07:20 AM
Exactly the same problem here with CCwGTV 4k. Source DVB-C live and recordings viewed with Kodi. Was flawless before update.
03-17-2025 08:13 AM
I have the same problem, in FHD Channels. The Playback is like slow motion.
I have two Chromecast, one with Android 12 and other with Android 14 and with Android 12 I don't have issues.
03-17-2025 08:52 AM
Same here, DVB-T2 streams are like slow motion after the update.
03-17-2025 12:53 PM
Same here, tested with different players, display on my Chromecast 4k with Android 14 looks like slow motion, then it jumps forward to the current frame, and repeat the same. On the other hand mu other Chromecast 4k with Android 12 plays all the streams perfectly. Very disappointed by this upgrade, is Google trying to force users to upgrade to their Google Streamer? 😑
03-17-2025 11:20 PM
Don't think so they are forcing the upgrade this way. Not too much of us are watching DVB streams, I guess.
Still, nobody knows yet what exactly happened.

Widzę że nie jestem sam po aktualizacji wszystkie apk do iptv tv się zacina zwolnione tempo. Co drugi kanał laguje, Google musi coś z tym zrobić o ile wyda jakaś aktualizacje

Same for me

Thanks for looking into this.
My CCwGTV 4K is connected to internet over official Googl's power adapter with LAN, so it is a wired connection to my router. But if I use Wifi it is the same, not related.
For cable TV in my area the DVB-C stream is not encrypted and I have two backends in home network that provide the raw ts stream. One is Tvheadend backend on Linux server with Hauppauge DVB-C stick, and the other is an enigma2 stb with DVB-C and DVB-T(2) tuners.
On CCwGTV I use apps from Play for playback: dream Player TV for Tvheadend and Tivimate. Also VLC can playback the stream. But it doesn't work now after Android 14 update.
It worked perfectly fine until the Android 14 upgrade was installed. On CCwGTV 4K where the update is not yet installed, still on Android 12 version, everything works perfectly.
03-21-2025 04:03 PM
Hi,
My CCwGTV 4K is connected though WiFi and I use tivimate to whatch iptv channels using xstream codes.
Thís issue started after CCwGTV 4k upgraded to Android 14. I have two Google streamers with Google TV (Android 14), and two other devices with Android TV with the same application (tivimate) and they don't have this problem.
For troubleshooting I tried VLC player instead of the tivimate default player but the problem remained.
Note: I have channels that are working properly, I think it only affects h.264 codec.
Thank you!
03-22-2025 12:37 AM
I don't know what else to add here, just read, read and read what everyone writes.
TiviMate and the h.264 codec do not work after updating to Android 14 and it is not TiviMate's fault, because on Android 12 it works normally.

Chromecast with Google TV connected directly by HDMI to an older TV, that doesnt`t have a DVB-T2 tuner.
A Raspberry Pi with the DVB-T2 module is connected to the antenna, and is in the same LAN. It is running Tvheadend to read the antenna signal, which is then available on the LAN for devices to stream. On the CC I use Kodi or Sparkle apps to watch the htsp stream.
Before the A14 update on CC this was running smoothly. Now the video is like slow motion, and audio sync is horrible on the CC. If I open the same streams on Kodi on Windows, the video is fine. Same with TvhClient on an iPad. Have done factory reset on the CC also.

Hello, almost a month has passed and I still have Google Chromecast without any use since it is mainly used for IPTV.
Is there any news? Are you working on a solution?

Stop asking useless questions to stall users from getting really upset with you all. You guys no darn well that the Android TV 14 update was a completely botched update and have done nothing to fix it nearly 2 months later at this point. Most users are complaining about h.264 playback and the inability to use any external storage device, with the Chromecast stating "device safely ejected" , when the same hardware and external storage worked flawlessly before the Android TV 14 update. This is clearly a bug in the code for Android TV 14. Again, stop asking useless questions and recommending things like "try a factory reset". None of the recommendations your team have posted in this forum and I mean NONE OF THEM have done a single thing to fix any of the issues introduced with bug riddled Android TV 14 update. With all the resources you and your team ie: Google have available, one would think that an update, hot fix or even an official method to roll back to Android TV 12 would be made available to fix these issues, yet 2 months later.. crickets, other than your generic copy and paste responses like this one. At this point, I would be more than happy to roll back to Android 12, but you all are dragging your feet on this, and seem to be clueless customer service representatives that aren't even involved in the software update process or design...at least that certainly how it seems given your horrible troubleshooting recommendations which fix absolutely nothing, and cause users to lose all of their data and apps. If you all wanted to I'm sure you could create a tool specifically for factory resetting to roll back to Android 12, but no, you just keep recommending the same troubleshooting responses over and over and over again with no success reported by ANYONE to fix any of the issues introduced with your bug-riddled update to Android TV 14.

I do have the same issue with CCwGTV4K after updating to Android 14. I used to watch Tvheadend DVB-C recordings using Kodi but now stream just stutters, audio is out of sync etc. Impossible to try to watch any recordings at the moment.

GoogleNestTeam - Stop asking about things that don't matter. It doesn't lead anywhere. I think the programmers working on GTV are 100% aware of the problem. The same problem occurs on other Amlogic devices (ATV14) e.g. Homatics box r 4k plus with an official dongle to watch LiveChannels app, with IPTV it's a bit better but you have to disable frame matching. This problem doesn't occur on Google Streamer. Why? Because it works on a Mediatek processor. That's why we can say that it's an Amlogic bug, maybe it's related to the system kernel. Until now CCwGTV worked on the old 4.9 kernel, after the update the kernel is version 5.15 - the same as with all other Amlogic devices with this problem. I would like to be wrong, but if it's true then it could be a very serious problem that Amlogic hasn't been able to fix for a long time.

You are absolutely right, I came to the same exact thing. I have several devices, Homatics box r 4k plus android 12 and 5.4.242 kernel, Thomson LEAP-S1 android 12 and 4.9.269 kernel, one Google Chromecast 4.0 4k android 12 and 4.9.269 kernel, no problem, only the other Google Chromecast 4.0 4k android 14 has a problem.

I have two Chromecast 4.0 4K, one with Android 12, the other 14.
The one with Android 14 has a problem

Same issue with tivimate and live IPTV streams on my CCwGTV Android 14.
04-01-2025 01:20 AM
GoogleNestTeam are you finally going to do something about it?
Sure enough time has passed since this crap was released?
You've ruined a lot of devices, how can you release something like this?
No more devices associated with you, no more Google TV!
No more Google Chromecast, no more Google Streamer !
04-01-2025 07:42 PM
Yeah what's the deal? You fixed the expired certificate issue on second gen chromecasts which are way older than Chromecast with Google TV, yet Chromecast with Google TV users who updated to Android TV 14 are still left wondering if this will ever be fixed?? I cannot use my device!! I haven't even heard anything from Google about this clearly widespread botched update.
04-02-2025 07:54 PM
Same problem here.
It affects all streaming playback.
Streaming app like Netflix and YouTube etc. Everything lags and stutters after firmware update

Facing exactly the same issue.
The update to android 14 made it unusable and it's like watching in slow motion.
"Outdated" devices with android 12 still working perfectly.
Even after factory reset, the issue persists.

All right it's been almost 2 months And now I'm royally pissed off. How in the world can Google get away with this without having a potential class action lawsuit filed against them for causing Chromecast with Google TV devices to be rendered useless, in the sense that they cannot be used for anything. This is ridiculous. Don't get me wrong, I love Google products and I'm fully entrenched in their ecosystem (every model of Chromecast since the first generation, Android TVs, Shield running Android OS, Home Mini and Nest Mini smart speakers and an Android cell phone, just to name a FEW), but the Android TV 14 update breaking my device allowing it to be used for literally nothing is infuriating, especially when Google won't even acknowledge there's a problem, a serious problem impacting numerous users. Factory resets have done nothing to resolve the multitude of issues and have caused me to lose all of my apps and app data. I initially had two Chromecast with Google TV 4K devices and gave one of them to my parents as a gift. I made sure to explicitly tell them not to update to Android TV 14 because of this completely botched update. GOOGLE WHY ARE YOU SILENT??? You have nothing to say on this clearly widespread problem caused by your completely botched Android TV 14 update? What's the deal? Will you be offering compensation to those whose devices you have essentially bricked with the Android TV 14 update? I'm not even asking for compensation in the form of money, just a working device or some sort of solution to this issue, which is the bare minimum you should be doing. This is extremely shady irresponsible behavior at best. You fixed the second gen Chromecast dongle issue with expired certificate very quickly within about a week, yet us Chromacast with Google TV users are still left in the lurch and have clearly been forgotten about, even though the device was released well after the second gen Chromecast dongle, which, even though no longer officially supported, was fixed very quickly . Please respond with any potential resolutions to this issue or a way to contact you directly and actually speak to someone... and I don't mean your standard generic copy and paste replies recommending to factory reset the device, fool with developer options, etc, as I've already done all of the above to no avail. I'm very tech savvy as I work in IT and none of the recommendations you have posted in this forum have resolved any of the issues that NUMEROUS users are experiencing after the Android TV 14 update. Settings menu not working and going completely blank on I'd say half of all settings pages. Horrible Color Profile Issues, especially on high-end OLED TVs, Inability to play any media with h.264 encoded video, and most importantly inability to use any type of external storage, when before the Android TV 14 update there was no issue with external storage using the same exact hardware that was used before the update. Internal storage is extremely limited in space at only 8 GB. Don't know what you all were thinking in the first place giving us only 8 GB of memory to work with, especially when a good chunk of it is taken up by "system", and a single app can take up to half a gigabyte of storage space OR MORE when you include app cache, which is just additional storage being eaten up by any given app. Please give us a solution or at least indicate that you are working on a fix for the multitude of issues introduced with the botched Android TV 14 update. If you reply with a generic "try a factory reset" blah blah blah Google don't actually care ...buy the Google TV Streamer instead for twice the price response, I will be throwing my Chromecast with Google TV in the garbage and will NEVER buy another Google product again....EVER. I'll be recommending that all of my family and friends, who I introduced to the Chromecast with Google TV in the first place do the same. I'll also be more than happy to post on ALL social media platforms indicating how Google has screwed over long time loyal customers by breaking the Chromecast with Google TV and not even acknowledging the issues or even stating that there is another update in the works to fix these issues specifically caused by the horrible, bug riddled Android TV 14 update. This is my second or third post in this forum and have yet to receive a response from Google other than asking me to factory reset my device, even though I can't remember if this was a direct reply to me or just a general reply in the forum. Google get your sh** together as this device was supposed to be supported for 5 years of updates and if my math is correct, it has not been 5 years since the Chromecast with Google TV was released. Are you intentionally waiting until September when it hits 5 years since release so you can just leave all of us in the lurch with unusable devices? Release an update to fix these issues, jesus, how hard can it be with all of the resources you have at your disposal??!!

I just sold my Google Streamer and will not buy anything from this series again.
The lack of support and help from Google and software errors convinced me that choosing the Google streamer was a mistake.
