CCwGTV 4K update to Android 14 broke TV stream playback

gurabli

My CCwGTV 4K received the latest update UTTC.241218.004, now I have Android 14.

This update broke playback of direct live TV stream in all the apps. It looks that all the h.264 FullHD streams are affected. The playback is like slow motion with judder and audio out of sync. All these apps worked perfectly fine before the update. Many users report the same (Reddit).

Source is DVB-C, TS stream from my cable TV provider.

Is this a known problem from Google's side? All the devices still on Android 12 are perfect.

Hey all,

Thank you for your patience with this. The fix for this issue is now rolling out (build UTTC.250917.004). While the update will reach all users automatically over the next several weeks, you can manually download the latest update by following these instructions.
I hope this information helps.

Best regards,
Jenny

My Thomson Streaming Box Plus 270 has an update with build number URO1.250103.055.A1.

Please provide the update number because there was an update in Poland 2 weeks ago and it didn't solve the problem either.

I have a Chromecast, Google TV 4K, and a Thomson Streaming Box Plus 270. I just received an update for Android 14, build number URO1.250103.055.A1. Should I install the update or wait?

For us, it is important that tivimate Live TV works at 50 FPS and not like Chromecast Google TV, where it switches from 50 FPS (where TV channels are broadcast) to 30 FPS or 60 FPS, and the sound comes before the picture then it looks like slow motion

This update that you mention (URO1.250103.055.A1) Is for the Chromecast or the Thomson device?

I have my Onn 4K Plus updated to a similar version (URO1.250103.055.A2) and I can confirm that it does NOT solve the issue.

For the Chromecast with Googel TV 4K the update that solves the problem is the one that has been posted: UTTC.250917.004.14193937

Thanks for the info, I have a Thomson Streaming Box Box 270.

It is important to us that tivimate works correctly. And yes, I still have a Chromecast Google TV 4k that I don't use.

I have UTTK.250729.004 from August 1, 2025, and it still doesn't work. Downloaded 2 weeks ago.

there is no newer one at the moment.

I think that you are talking about Google TV Streamer. I do not know if there is an update available yet for that device. The ones being posted herar are for Chromecast with Google TV.

Update improvement in playback.

Everything is now Android deinterlacing 25fps

Sound and video are in sync but 50fps playback is not available.

What do you mean: "but 50 fps playback is not available."?

Hello

And for Xiaomi Mi Box 3nd Gen?

Which is also running Android 14?

Hi,

How about the interlaced videos not playing properly ? It has not been fixed with the new update ... 😞

Will the update also be available for the Thomson Streaming Box Plus 270 with Android 14 or not?

Why are you asking about devices from other manufacturers? This is a Chromecast support. Ask your device manufacturer.

This is a general Android form, isn't it?

No. Read the title. Also: Google is not responsible for updating your device.

Have you updated your Thomson Streaming Box Plus 270 to ATV14 and if so, are the same issues there as CCWGTV?

Hi Jenny,
There are still problem with the quality of video.
It is better now, but ther are still some problems.
Same stream on diferent hardware (from diferent manufacturer) works perfectly.

Are you still working on it, and there will be improvment (when?), or are you planing to give the refunds?

so what if an update for chromecast was released but google streamers still work incorrectly.

Streamer still not working properly.

There seems to be some confusion still. For clarity's sake could you elaborate your statement "The fix for this issue is now rolling out:"
- What is 'this' i.e. what is your definition of the problem that has been fixed?
- What is 'fix" i.e. what is your understanding of the change and fixed functionality?
- What is rolling out i.e. is this fix limited to Google devices only or is it it delivered to other vendors of Android TV streaming devices too?

Google has been selling defective Google streamers since launch, and to this day they claim they're not responsible. And the devices still don't work. Luckily, I sold my streamer, but I feel sorry for the person who bought it from me.

I downloaded the latest "fix" and while the streaming of DVB-T2 > HDHomerun > Tivimate has improved, channels are unwatchable. Some channels are showing as 60 FPS in Tivimate when they should be 50 FPS, others are showing as 25 FPS when they should be 50 FPS. Weirdly, from watching the streams in Tivimate it looks as if some are running at 50 FPS (but reporting 25 FPS) and picture quality and audio is fine, but momentary stuttering, making channels unwatchable.  Google had enough opportunities to sort this since it was first raised on another Google Streamer 4k thread over a year ago.  Lesson learnt - go elsewhere for any Google TV streaming device. Can folks confirm that other ATV14 devices are working fine?

Yes, I'm seeing the same thing on tvimate at least for the 50FPS to 60 FPS thing. It's even that sometimes it gets the right frame rate but mostly it gets it wrong. Personally I don't see any major noticeable issue with the stream (though I'm not really using any DVR kind of device - IPTV directly on tvimate) but still shocking how they managed to fail to properly fix the whole thing after so much time.

Do you have the CCWGTV HD or the 4K version? I have the HD version. If you have the 4K version, it’s possible that with the faster processor and the extra 0.5 GB of RAM, your streams are playing smoothly.

I’ve done more testing and DVB-T2 / Freeview UK channels are still unwatchable on the HD model. It’s a shame, because during the periods when they are smooth, the deinterlacing seems to work perfectly. Google almost fixed it, but “almost,” after almost a year of waiting, isn’t enough. The reality is that they’ve effectively bricked my device, and it’s forcing me to move to another hardware manufacturer for anything Android TV in the future.

Oh yeah, that makes sense! I do have the 4k version.

Yes, it's embarrassing. I was actually thinking about the new streamer but I might have to re-evaluate that

Keep in mind that the Chromecast HD has a different processor. RAM isn't a factor because deinterlacing is a hardware process (built into the processor), not software. In this case, the issue could be with the drivers or the Android kernel itself.

I think it would help if folks here can confirm if DVB-T2 streams are working / not working on the following ATV14 devices:

CCWGTV HD

CCWGTV 4k

Google TV Streamer 4k

Homatics Box R 4K Plus

Xiaomi TV Stick 4k (2nd gen)

Xiaomi TV Box S (3rd Gen)

I am assuming that everything is fine with devices still running ATV12 e.g. Strong Leap S3 Pro and Thomson Streaming Box 270. I understand that Strong Leap plans to roll out ATV14 for the S3 Pro before the end of the year. Not sure what Thomson has planned with the Streaming Box 270.

Edit: This reddit post confirms that updating the Homatics Box R 4K Plus to ATV14 broke deinterlacing 😔
