I’ve just purchased a Google chromecast 3rd Gen. set up was going fine until wifi setup. It says “connecting” then after a few minutes “connected”. Seconds after, it says “Something went wrong”…I’ve tried restarting my wifi, restarting my phone, resetting the chromecast, made sure it’s on 2.4 GHz, tried connecting on a android device and iOS device, tried on two different TVS…STILL NOTHING. I’ve been trying for almost 2 hours. Anyone know anything else I can do!?

Put both the phone and the Chromecast device on 5 GHz to prevent interferences with other devices connected on 2.4 GHz.

Have now tried both 2.4 and 5. Still not working

First restart the router and your phone and try again.
Next, if it doesn't work, unplug the Chromecast device from main power grid for about 5 minutes then plug it back in.
Last, if it still doesn't work, hard reset the Chromecast device.
