Hi,
I have issues connecting my newly bought chromecast with my iphone.
it connects perfectly to the wifi, but as soon as that is done it fails and states that there was an error and i should check my local network settings. I have checked that these are activated for the google home app and i have tried restarting my router, my chromecast and my phone (also tried disconnecting wifi from phone) and tried to factory reset the chromecast - any suggestions?

Hi Manokian,
I’m sorry to hear about the trouble you're having during the set up. Let’s further look into it. A few questions: are you using a private or a shared WiFi connection? Is your router dual-band? If yes, on which band are you connecting your Chromecast with Google TV device? Do you have a spare phone you can use for the initial set up?
Regards,
Alex

Hi,
Thank you for the seift reply - i am using a ‘public wifi’ in the form of my apartment hotel network, as i will be staying here for 6 months i thought it to be a good opportunity to get a chromecast to see all my streaming services and etc. Nevertheless, there should only be connected around 5 people on this specific shared wifi.
I do have another iphone for work that could be used.
Hope this clears things a bit up,
Thank you in advance!

Hi there,
A public WiFi network such as the Shared apartment network often has captive portals for sign-in or has AP isolation enabled to limit access between members or devices on the network, which may cause issues in setting up your Chromecast with Google TV device. If using the work iPhone gives you the same error message, the issue is likely with the structure of the shared WiFi network.
You can check with the apartment’s IT admin (if there’s any) if there’s options you can do to connect the Chromecast with Google TV device to the WiFi network.
Best,
Alex
