Cannot see Chromecast Audio until I restart my phone

Hi guys!

I have Chromecast Audio and I have a problem where I cannot find it using my phone, neither via Google Home app or Spotify app. It doesn't show up UNTIL I restart my phone, then it works perfectly. I just need to restart my phone, not my router neither the Chromecast device.

When I do this I can use it normally, but then after a few hours after stop using it, the problem start happening again, until I restart my phone again for it to work.

I believe Chromecast Audio uses a hidden app for locating the device, and my Samsung phone is possibly forcing this app to "hibernate" after a few time idle, until I restart it.

Any clues how to fix this?

Thanks,

Paulo.

Have seen this with Samsung phones ... Instead of a reboot , try turning your phones wifi off , then back on, and see if that works.   Sadly I don't have a solution for you as I use a pixel phone, but if flipping the wifi works that may give you a better clue as to what the issue is!

Thanks Ashepherdson!

I did not try that before and it worked!
So simple, and I didn't think of it. Thanks a lot.

Happy new year!

Hi PauloON,

Thank you for posting in the community. I'm sorry that you're having trouble casting to the Chromecast Audio. I understand how frustrating this can be. I'm here to help.

Before I begin, I need to ask a few questions for further assistance:

  • Are you having the same issue with other cell phones?
  • When did the issue start?
  • Have you tried to see if you have pending software updates on your cell phone?
  • Can you try to reboot Chromecast audio? (Disconnect the device from the power source for 30 seconds.)

Please keep me posted. I'll look forward to your response.

Regards,

Kevin
