So my Google TV had problem that can't let me to cast my YouTube, Spotify or Netflix. If i open my YouTube on my phone it should have 2 TVs detected with same name, but if you look at picture that i attached, the 2nd tv with same name is gone, also sometimes u had problem when screen mirroring my phone to my Chromecast. That's all thank you.

Hello Mike_1094,

I think I understand what you want now. You’re expecting your one and only Chromecast to show itself twice as a casting option. I understand that you witnessed it happening before (which was an old bug), but what’s happening now (only showing one name) is what it should be. I hope this clarifies the confusion. Let us know if you still have questions.

Cheers,

Kimy

Hi Mike,

If you have trouble casting videos to your Google TV device, try the troubleshooting steps in this video -

Fix problems with casting | Google TV - YouTube -  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nD2oWVUz6dY

. After each step, try to cast the video again. For more help, go to the Google TV help center: https://support.google.com/googletv.

Hope it can help.

angelee

Hi Mike_1094,

Thanks for posting — let's get this sorted out. You mentioned that your phone should detect 2 TVs with the same name — is the other TV a Chromecast device as well? Can you see the Chromecast with Google TV HD in the Google Home app, within a room? Have you tried renaming it? Are you using a dual-band router? If yes, on which band is your Chromecast with Google TV HD connected?

We appreciate your assistance here, angeleemorquin.

Kind regards,
Alex

First, i only have one Google tv, when on first buy the youtube app on my phone detected 2 tvs with same name, when i connect with the first one it opened youtube app normally connected to my phone , then the second tv with same name it connected into the youtube but it's in outside of the YouTube app, i think it's coming from chromecast built-in app.

Second, i don't know if i'm using dual band wifi, how do i checked it? But when my first time buy i until now i didn't change any settings on my wifi router, this problem occured when i resetting my Google TV

Hi Mike_1094,

Thanks for the details. Since you mention that your laptop can still cast like it used to, chances are this could be phone-related or network-related. Try to turn off the smart switch function of your phone, we need to ensure that it stays on the same network where the Chromecast device is. Once you find it, go to the Google Home app and rename the TV. Try at least to add an identifier like GTV to the name, so that you’ll know which one is the TV and which one is the Chromecast with Google TV. If you fail to detect it, try to factory reset for a full clean-up and set it up with a modified name. Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

Kimy

Hello Mike_1094,

Thanks for the reply. Most of the newer versions of smartphones have that feature. It may have a different name but similar functions. You can then proceed with a factory reset, just ensure that you set it up with a modified name. Let us know how it goes.

Hi there,

Were you able to see the Chromecast device in the Google Home App? If you do, kindly rename it. Then try again with the YouTube app to see if it sees it. If it persists, reinstall the YouTube app, then reboot the involved devices. Test as well if it happens on other apps (Netflix, Disney+, Spotify, etc.). We look forward to your reply.

Thanks,

Kimy

Hi Mike_1094,

It’s still not clear if you managed to rename it something else. Our objective is to know if the casting source finds both devices (Chromecast and TV itself), and if not, then we’ll identify which one to troubleshoot. You mentioned that you reset it; I assume that you perform a factory reset (full clean-up) and then set it up with a new name. When you cast Netflix or other apps, does it also show just one option (TV or Chromecast)? We are just trying to figure out if it’s isolated to your YouTube app. And did you have a chance to try another phone just to isolate if there’s something on the phone? I look forward to your answers so we can filter this down.

Thank you,

Kimy

I've changed the name when it finished reset. But in the YouTube application, Spotify and Netflix only detect one chromecast name, even though only 1 chromecast name appears, but when I first bought it, 2 names appeared and both of them were my chromecast names too, not from my TV, but strangely now only 1 chromecast name appears unlike before which could detect 2 chromecast names at once.

I have also tested it on another android phone and it's still the same, only detecting 1 chromecast name, even though 2 chromecast names were also detected in the past.

Hi there,

Thanks for the reply. The situation has finally been corrected. It is related to the previous concerns where the device’s name is shown twice, as it detects the previously recognized (expected) device and the available device, which is also the actual device itself. I hope this answers your question. Let us know if you still have other concerns.

Best,

Kimy
