Casting list - 2 TVs show up, 2 TVs do not.

We have four Google/Android TV streaming devices in our home: (1) Nvidia Shield; (2) Chromecast w Google TV 4K; (3) Google TV Streamer; and (4) Android TV w Chromecast Built-in.  When opening a cast enabled app such as photos, Google TV, Google Home, etc, on any android phone or tablet, the first two devices show up and the second two do not. Yes, they are all on the same wifi network. Yes, chromecast is enabled. Yes they have all been restarted and factory reset more than once. The fact that two TVs show up proves that they are connected and working properly. So why don't the other two show up on the list? I have read all the posts in all the forums and they all say the same thing. Does anyone have any other ideas?

Hi @schmoopy88!

Thank you for posting in the community. I'm sorry to hear that your Google TV Streamer (4K) and Android TV with Chromecast Built-in aren't appearing as cast targets, despite your Nvidia Shield and Chromecast with Google TV (4K) working correctly. I appreciate your efforts in taking those steps before. I'm happy to help you!

To help me find the best solution, I'll need to ask you a few questions:

  • What Android version are these phones/tablets running?
  • Besides Google TV and Google Home, have you tried casting from any other apps (e.g., YouTube, Netflix, Spotify) to the problematic devices? If so, do they also fail to appear in the cast list?
  • What is the distance between the router and the devices that are not showing up for casting?
  • Could you provide me with the firmware version of your Google TV Streamer (4K)? Here is an article that will help you verify: Chromecast and Google TV Streamer firmware versions and release notes.

Please keep me posted. I'll be waiting for your response.

Best regards,
Geremi
