This problem has recently started just with YouTube

Chromcaste is working fine with other apps

the problem is in YouTube on both my iPad and my iPhone

even when not casting YouTube is having problems with fast forward and backwards as starts jumping around the video

sometimes I cast with no problem then when I change video it stopped.

google support asked me to use YouTube on my browser, but casting is not available on iPad and iPhone browsers!

Hi Munmun,

Thanks for posting in the community.

I understand that your Chromecast (2nd gen) has recently stopped working properly with YouTube, even though it works fine with other apps. Thank you for letting me know that you are experiencing this issue on both your iPad and iPhone, even with the skipping when you're not casting, and that you were able to stream from a Windows laptop. This is very helpful information. Let's work together to find a solution.

To help me get to the bottom of this, please answer the following questions:

  • Are the operating systems on your iPad and iPhone updated?
  • Are you using the latest version of the Google Home app? If not, this Google Nest Help Center article provides helpful instructions: Update the Google Home app.
  • What is the firmware version of your Chromecast? You can use this Google Help Center article as a reference: Find your device’s firmware version.
  • Are you experiencing this inconvenience with all YouTube videos, or is it with a specific video, channel, or show?

In the meantime, I recommend you trying the following steps:

  1. Remove and reinstall the YouTube app from your iPad and iPhone devices.
  2. Restart your iPhone and iPad.
  3. Reboot your Chromecast by following these instructions:

Unplug the power cord from your speaker or display.

Leave it unplugged for ~1 minute.

Plug the power cable back in.

After performing these steps, please let me know if the issue is resolved. I will be looking forward to your response.

Best regards,

Virna
