Chrome cannot cast Youtube to Google TV

I have set-up Chrome casting from web browser to my Google TV (SONY), and it was successful. However, recently I can only cast Youtube from my iphone, and cannot cast Youtube from Chrome web browser. This web browser casting issue only happens for Youtube, other tabs in Chrome browser can be casted to Google TV with no issue. Any community members know the reason of it? Thank you in advance!

Hello @Hsuan23_tw,

Thanks for posting in the community.

I know how important it is that YouTube works well. It sounds like you're having trouble casting YouTube from your Chrome web browser to your Google TV, even though other tabs are cast successfully. Let me help you with this.

Here are some steps you can try to fix the problem:

  1. Disable Chrome extensions: Open Chrome, go to Settings > Extensions, and temporarily disable any recently added extensions.
  2. Update Chrome and YouTube: Check for updates in Chrome (Settings > About Chrome) and update YouTube if necessary.
  3. Restart Google TV: Power cycle your Google TV by unplugging it for 30 seconds, then plugging it back in.
  4. Check Casting Restrictions (if applicable): Some YouTube content might have casting restrictions set by the creator. Verify that the specific video you're trying to cast doesn't have limitations.
  5. Clear Chrome Browsing Data: Try clearing your browsing data (cache, cookies) in Chrome settings to see if it helps.
  6. Try Casting from a Different Browser: If the issue persists with Chrome, test casting YouTube from another browser like Firefox or Edge to see if it's browser-specific.
