Google Chromecast 2018 Model has lately been randomly getting kicked off my network and is currently offline with no connection to the internet.
As for Spotify with Chromecast, even though basic functionality with the remote through the voice assistant button has been restored, users can no longer fast-forward or rewind through songs using voice assistant as was the case before.
In addition, users were previously able to use the voice assistant button to ask the name of the current track playing and google would respond which is a golden feature for blind and visually-impaired users especially when discovering new music through Spotify's auto mix after playing a random song but this is no longer the case.
It seems that Google still has a quality control issue with failing to preserve its' own features and prioritizes better and fancier looking menu's along with other minor changes over functionality and practicality when pushing through updates.
Why does Google remain intent on making the experiences of blind/visually-impaired users of its products more difficult and frustrating???
As for customers using slightly older Chromecast devices, I hope that Google is not making the same costly mistake with some of its products that Apple recently had to account for in a multi-hundred million dollar federal lawsuit alleging that Apple was intentionally slowing down and making its older phones less operable in a deliberate attempt to force its customers to continually upgrade their devices which Apple was found guilty of and subsequently had to reimburse customers for.
This should serve as a direct warning to and cautionary tale for Google if it is indeed engaging in some of these practices!!!
I am prepared to file a consumer complaint with the FTC and will refer this matter to the appropriate bodies to look into this issue as well as the separate matter of compliance with the ADA (Americans With Disabilities Act) for the aforementioned problem of accessibility or lack thereof for customers who are blind or visually-impaired if:
A. appropriate action is not taken to resolve these problems within a reasonable timeframe
B. these problems continue to persist in the future even after initially being resolved
The cost of non-compliance is far greater than the alternative not only in terms of dollars but also reputation.
This is not a threat: This is simply a fact.
This post should be brought to the attention of the appropriate departments at Google because this simply cannot continue to go on unchecked.
I have all the time in the world to see this through because it is the right thing to do not only for myself but also for all other users of Google Chromecast devices everywhere.
