At first I would like to express my disappointment for taking away this feature. I am not willing to give my wifi pass to my guests and that gave them the opportunity to cast to my Chromecast without entering my network. Why exactly did support cease?
Is the Chromecast 3rd generation still able to do guest mode or that was taken away through firmware auto update?
If it is still able to do guest mode can that be activated with an older version of the Home app (and which one) because the latest version does not have that option.
I hope that this feature is reinstated but in the mean time, is there another way for a guest to cast without logging into my LAN?
Someone suggested putting the Chromecast on my phone's hotspot but I do not understand how that would work besides the fact that cell data traffic is costly.

You are not talking to Google here. We are users who volunteer to help other users.
As you've discovered, Guest Mode is no longer supported.

Any tricks you try to have it won't work for very long (if they still work at all) as Google closes all the access points.
You can tell Google what you would like by using the "Send Feedback" option:

Google doesn't read every post in this forum but they do read and track all the feedback they receive that way. Just so you know, they won't respond directly to feedback so don't ask them any questions.

Ok, got it. No workarounds. Pitty!
Thanks!
