Chromecast 4k

I am running a Chromecast 4K with google tv (with latest upgrade) on a 43” Hisense current model smart TV. This is in an aged care home with a mesh wifi system and multiple access points. From time to time the streaming service will drop out to the Chromecast Home menu. Tests suggest it is not a wifi problem. This can happen on 2 different streaming services. I have tried powering down, removing batteries and rebooting Chromecast and resetting to factory defaults. Can you suggest what the problem may be please.

I've never noticed this with the standard apps (Netflix, plex, Disney, amazon video).. what app specifically is closing?

I'm guess the app is crashing which would boot the screen back to home.   You could try checking if there is an update available, or even uninstall the app, reboot, and reinstall.  Possibly corrupt ?

Thanks for your reply. I have previously tried your suggestions without success. The app is Binge and I have it running at home on a smart tv without Chromecast and never any problems.

Hi @Phillip797,

Thanks for reaching out to the community! I'm sorry to hear that the streaming service is still dropping out on your Chromecast with Google TV 4K. I'm here to help.

@Ashepherdson, thank you for your input and suggestions..

Your efforts in trying to resolve this inconvenience are valuable, @Phillip797. To better assist you, I'd like to gather some more details:

  • When did the behavior start?
  • Are you experiencing the same inconvenience with other apps? If so, what are they?
  • Have you made any changes to your WiFi network recently?
  • Have you tried casting the Binge app from another TV through the Chromecast?

In the meantime, I’d suggest the following steps:

  • Ensure the mobile device and Chromecast are on the same WiFi network.
  • Verify the firmware version of your Chromecast. You can find this information in this article: Chromecast firmware versions and release notes.
  • Update your router's firmware, if needed. Sometimes routers have bugs, and there are firmware fixes to address them. Make sure your router is running the most updated software.
  • Clear app cache and data: This might resolve software glitches. For instructions, you can check out this article: Clear the cache.

If those steps don't work as expected, you may need to contact the manufacturer of the Binge app to get further assistance.

Please keep me posted.

Best regards,

Jenniffer
