If you are using a mobile device follow these steps
- Make sure the Chromecast receives power and the TV is on the right input
- Confirm that the casting device isn’t on mute
- Confirm that the TV, sound bar, and/or receiver isn't on mute
- Check if the sound plays on the correct audio channel
- Check if you are using Chromecast with an HDMI adapter to Digital Visual Interface (DVI) or Video Graphics Array (VGA)
- Use a different HDMI device on the same HDMI input and check if audio works
- Use a different HDMI input
- Make sure the firmware version of the mobile device is up-to-date
- Reboot the mobile device
- Reboot the Chromecast
- Reboot the TV
- Isolate if the issue occurs in a specific app
- Cast the same Chromecast device on a different TV (if possible)
- Perform factory reset
If you are using a computer please follow these steps
- Close all open browser tabs and restart the Chrome browser
- Make sure the Chrome browser is up-to-date
- Reboot the computer
- Disable Allow all sites to initiate mirroring
- Check if the issue is browser-specific
