Chromecast Connected to WiFi but apps can’t find it.

I changed internet companies and so I had to re-connect my 1st gen Chromecast. It is connected to my wifi, and I can cast YouTube Music directly from the Google Home app, but when I use the YouTube app, or any of my other streaming services, my Chromecast doesn’t show up on the list of available devices.

Anyone know how I can get my iPhone to work with Chromecast again?

Hi @fzzy

Make sure your iPhone and Chromecast are on the same exact new wifi network.

Let us know if that helps-

They are on the same network, the google home app is able to connect, just none of the others.

Hey there fzzy,

No problem, there are a few more things we can try. Since you are using an iPhone, make sure you have Local Network Access enabled:

  1. Go to the phone's Settings.
  2. Tap Privacy and then Local Network.
  3. You will find a list of apps. You must turn on the Local Network Access for the Google Home app.

If your network is a dual-band setup, make sure your Chromecast and the iPhone are both on the 2.4GHz Wi-Fi band.

Also, thank you for your help on this thread, Jill!

Best regards,
Jeran
