Chromecast HD audio streaming issue

Hello I have a some problems with Qobuz App Android while streaming HiRes audio via Google cast to Chromecast HD device

After the latest Chromecast HD firmware update (20241218) the audio streaming playback stops when the Chromecast screensaver (Ambient mode) starts automatically (10min of inactivity, this function cannot be anymore disabled on the latest Google update )

I am using Qobuz 9.2.0.1 on Motorola G30 with Android 12

I'm sorry to hear that your Qobuz Hi-Res audio streaming is being interrupted on your Chromecast device when the Ambient Mode activates, especially after the latest firmware update. I appreciate your efforts in taking those steps before. I'm happy to help you!

To help me find the best solution, I'll need to ask you a few questions:

  • When you say you have a Chromecast HD, do you mean Chromecast with Google TV (HD)?
  • When the audio playback stops, does the Chromecast completely disconnect from Qobuz, or does the Qobuz app still show that it's connected and playing, just without sound?
  • Are you having the same problem with different apps or just with the Qobuz app?
  • How far is your Chromecast from your Wi-Fi router, and are there any significant obstructions (walls, furniture) between them?
  • Have you performed any troubleshooting steps? If so, could you explain which ones?
  • Is the Google Home app updated?

thanks for the reply, here's my feedback:

1) Yes, my device is Chromecast with Google TV (HD)

2) When the audio stops the connection between the Qobuz app and Chromecast is lost (I see the indication of "audio output" on the App bar that change from "Google Cast" to Local device (i.e the Smartphone speakers). The "funny" thing is that the disconnection happens sistematically when Ambient Mode starts on Chromecast screen.

3) the problem seems only with Qobuz, I tried a different audio streaming app (mConnect) that is able to access to Qobuz servers, and the streaming over Chromecast with mConnect seems not affected at all by the issue (anyway, I contacted also the Qobuz support forum, but no answer by them so far ...)

4) no significant obstruction between router and Chromecast, and other streaming services (e.g Youtube Music) work well on the same network configuration/router/Chromecast device

5) As i mentioned before, I tried changing app (mConnect) and the issue seems solved, but anyway mConnect has some other limitations respect to the native Qobuz app so I'd prefer to use Qobuz app, if and when the issue is solved

6) Yes both Chromecast device and Google home  app are updated with the latest releases/versions

Hello

Just to add some info about point 3 and 5 : After further test the problem is present also using a different app for Google Cast connection, I mean the problem appears also with mConnect instead of Qobuz native app, and the disconnection appears always when Chromecast goes to Ambient Mode

Hello

I tried streaming also with Tidal and there is the same issue : audio playback stops as soon as Ambient mode screen apper. So I think definitely is an issue of Chromecast device after the last firmware upgrade 20241218. Can anyone help?
