My Chromecast remote IR functions (volume up/down, turning the TV on/off) stopped working after the last update, it has been working without any problems since 2020.
Now when I press any button configured as IR the remote LED lights up twice and nothing happens, I have new batteries and I also preformed a factory reset on the remote, but I get the same behavior with the remote factory version.
I also tried to set up the remote again to control my TV but when it asks to press the remote buttons, wither Volume, Power or Input, I get the same problem, the remote LED lights up twice and nothing happens.
Chromecast version: STTL.240508.005 (I don't know which version I had before the update)
Remote version: 26.7 (factory resets to version 22.2)
TV: Sony KDL-32P3600
Any idea on how to solve it, or how to go back to the previous version?

Same. And I'm pretty sure we have similar TVs, Sony KDL of some kind.
I had to change a setting on the chromecast. Maybe it was HDMI-CEC.
The chromecast also seems slower since the last update.

I noticed the same thing happens on my GFs chromecast, too. Google must have changed something in the update.
If you go to the remote settings on the chromecast, go to remotes and accessories, change both the Volume and the Power buttons to the 'Chromecast' option.

Thanks HughJardon, but neither option works as the IR used to work.
The HDMI-CEC option never worked properly for me, the Power button works to turn the TV off but sometimes doesn't work to turn it on and the Volume button does nothing, hence why I used IR, the only button that works properly with HDMI-CEC is the Input button.
The Chromecast option doesn't allow me to turn the TV on/off and it only allows to control the Chromcast internal volume, which is really annoying when changing the TV to other inputs.

No idea then. Mine doesn't work how it used to, but I'm lucky it seems, that it works through the chromecast software.
I doubt you'll get any support from Google. They deal with many different TV firmwares, they will do a consistent approach for all TVs, so if you're TV doesn't work, it ain't gonna get fixed.
