Chromecast Ultra - WPA3 Support

Alvee206

Hey folks, I just got a new modem/router, and all my devices got online except my Chromecast Ultra(s).  I fought and fought for a few days until I realized it was because my new router/modem came default with WPA3 turned on.

Any idea when a firmware is coming out with WPA3 support fully functional?

I have had to split my network and lower my security to WPA2 to get them online, but since we all know the direction of home networking security- I figured it is on your list for future releases.

Thanks Jennifer- I appreciate the followup.  I am good for now.  Really I just wanted to put it on your developers' radar.  I know it's sticky situation because who supports this upgrade, the hardware owners or the software developers, etc.

My major callout is that I received a router out of the box with WPA3 turned on.  So I know this is not the first, and certainly not the last time you get customers' reaching out.   Its likely more and more router companies are shipping with WPA3 on.

Good luck!  Hopefully it gets resolved in a timely manner!  🙂

Thanks again.

Thanks for posting. We don't have info to share about that, but we'll take this as feedback and pass it along to the right team.

You can also send feedback about your Chromecast device through the Google Home app. Here's how: Submitting feedback about your Chromecast device.

Thanks,
