Chromecast Unable to add

Had this chromecast for years and now that its october I wanted to change the ambient mode to have halloween backgrounds. Well come to find out on the Home App (yes fully up to date) wouldnt let me change the settings, just says "Settings Unavailable". 

Things Ive tried

Restarting the TV

Restarting the chrome cast

Restarting the phone / app

Well nothing works so lets just remove the device and re-add it but wait guess what I can re-add it now because it cant find it? What is happening to the most simple functions, thats its only job is to just connect to it.. It has wifi, it still connects to the tv, I see it on. What do I do

To provide you with the best assistance, please provide me with the following information: 

 

  • What Chromecast model do you have?
  • When did the inconvenience start? 
  • Have you been able to edit ambient mode before?
  • Before adding the device to the Google Home app, did you perform a factory reset?
  • Where are you located?

 

In the meantime, check that Chromecast has the latest firmware version.
