Purchased a Chromecast with Google TV yesterday and I couldn't find my 2.4GHz WiFi network. I could only find my 5Ghz network, unfortunately, the signal was too weak to use.
I moved closer to the network so I could complete the setup process and perform the update, in hopes that I would be able to connect to the 2.4GHz network after the update. Unfortunately, the Chromecast still cannot pick up the WiFi signal.
I have tried resetting both the Chromecast and the router/extender but this made no change.
I have set up a WiFi hotspot on my phone, if I set it as a 2.4GHz network, the Chromecast cannot find it. But after changing it to 5GHz, the Chromecast immediately picks it up and is able to connect.
I'm out of ideas. Thank you in advance for your help.

Hi Shaen,
Thanks for posting and for being a step ahead of us. We’re sorry for the trouble, and this is not the experience that we wanted you to have. This is quite bizarre, but you relay the information as clearly as day, so I can’t question much. Let’s try to do a full clean-up by performing a factory reset one last time, then setting it up from scratch just to isolate if there may be some corrupted files or data.
Let us know how it goes.
Thanks,
Kimy

Thanks for the response. I tried another factory reset to no avail, unfortunately. However, the issue has been resolved. User u/eandi on the r/Chromecast subreddit recommended that I change the 2.4GHz channel to either 1, 6 or 11 and that worked perfectly. I'm not sure whether this is an issue with my router or the Chromecast, as I'm not sure why it only picks up those channels. But hopefully this info might help others who experience this.
