I have a CCWGTV HD connected to a dumb TV and using a VPN to connect to the UK. My VPN connection works perfectly on Windows 10 PC and Android tablets and on the CCWGTV except for BBCiPLayer.
The CCWGTV firmware is the latest available and the iPlayer APP is also the latest version. I have two CCWGTV on two dumb TVs and get the same results (see below). I have factory reset both to no avail. I have also variously cleared caches, etc.
I have side-loaded BBCiPlayer onto the CCWGTV and find that iPlayer will often give me an error 02050 "Something went wrong...." when loading a different program/episode or even reloading the same program at a later time. Thing is, all the screens, programs, and all other visual iPlayer "stuff" like scrolling, reading, program details, etc, works fine except for getting the above error.
In contrast, ITVx works perfectly.
Has anyone else had the 02050 error and been able to resolve it? Thanks.

Hi folks,
Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community. We seem to receive different complaints related to BBC iPlayer, and it’s odd that the issues are of different sorts, all while every other installed app and function is working fine. Try to troubleshoot the app itself by clearing the cache and data or reinstalling the app itself. The last resort would be to do a full clean-up by performing a factory reset.
We don’t really promote the use of VPNs, as there are apps that have ways of discovering false geotagging. If all else fails after trying the steps, I suggest you contact BBC iPlayer support for this.
Thanks,
Kimy

Hi MrBignose5866,
Thanks for the reply. If that’s the case, then you may need to reach out to BBC iPlayer support. Let us know if you have any concerns with your Chromecast device.
