Chromecast audio

I have Chromecast audio connected to to systems in different parts of my house. I can cast my music to each system individually from the home screen,but when I try to cast my music as a group to both systems it takes me to a setup screen I am unable to cast to the group as I cannot get to a screen with that option.

Thanks for posting — let’s see what’s going on. Quick question: what phone are you using (Android or iOS)? Were you able to make cast to your group before? Also, what steps have you taken so far? You can delete and create a new group and observe if it will make a difference. See the steps below:

 

Delete an existing group: 

  1. Make sure your mobile device or tablet is connected to the same Wi-Fi or linked to the same account as your Chromecast, or speaker or display.
  2. Open the Google Home app .
  3. Tap your speaker group.
  4. Tap Delete group and then Remove.

Important: If you delete a group that currently casts media, group playback will stop and all audio devices in the group will stop playing.

Create an audio group:

 

  1. Make sure your mobile device or tablet is connected to the same Wi-Fi or linked to the same account as your Chromecast, or speaker or display.
  2. Open the Google Home app .
  3. At the top left, tap Add and then Create speaker group.
  4. Tap each device you want to add to the group. A check Check will appear next to each device you select.
  5. Tap Next enter a name for your group Save.

I have a Google phone which uses Android as a system. I have deleted the group and set it up again a few times to no avail. I do have a music app that does cast to the group so my phone and the music systems are functioning correctly. It's just Google's home app that cannot allow casting to a group.

Hey there Sobodos,

I'm just checking up on this thread; are you still having issues with your Chromecast Audio within a speaker group? If so, make sure the Google Home app is up-to-date. Afterwards, clear the cache and data for the Google Home app. If the problem persists, uninstall and reinstall the Google Home app.

I have removed the data and the cache and remove the home app from my phone and reinstalled it. It has not solved my problem. Just to remind you, I am able to cast to a group using an internet radios cast options. So the phones ability to cast to a group is not in question. The Google home app is where the problem lies. There is a bug in the app that will not allow casting to a group and takes me to a setup screen instead.
