Chromecast black screen when clicking apps

My google tv/Chromecast was working perfectly fine until yesterday - when I went to turn it on, the associated remote wouldn't work so I used the actual tv remote to turn on the tv (batteries are new so that's not the problem).

Once I got into the homepage, the remote worked, and only some apps and ads were loaded, others were grey or partially loaded. When clicking into various apps, the screen goes black and doesn't load. The same thing happens when I try and go into all settings, it doesn't load.

I'm still connected to the same wifi as I was before and the HDMI and power are still connected. I've unplugged for 1 minute and tried again, but nothing is working.

Thanks!

Hi @Ebburgun,

Thanks for reaching out to the community! I understand that you have been experiencing some inconveniences with your Chromecast with Google TV and the Voice Remote. Specifically, you're having an issue turning on the TV with the Chromecast remote, and apps are not loading when you select them. I appreciate that you tried some troubleshooting steps on your own; let me help you with this!

Before we move forward, I need some information to provide you with the most accurate steps:

  • Is the Chromecast with Google TV plugged correctly into the TV and the power source?
  • What is the firmware version of your device?
  • Is there any light on your Voice Remote or your device? If so, what color is it?
  • Is the TV tuned to the same HDMI input where the Chromecast with Google TV is plugged in?
  • What TV brand do you primarily use with your device (e.g., Sony, LG, Samsung, TCL)?
  • What is the model number of your TV (e.g., Sony KDL40W600B, LG OLED65C7P)?
  • What is the resolution of the TV (e.g., 1080p, 4K)?
  • Are there any error messages from the streaming device when this issue occurs? If so, can you please take a picture of the error message?

Once you provide this information, I will be more than happy to assist you!

Best regards,

Debora
