Chromecast connected but not casting or mirroring

Chromecast was working fine as far as casting and mirror then in the middle of mirroring, it stops working. The cast button no longer can be seen on the tv screen. I can click on the cast button on YouTube, it will read connecting, but nothing is casted on the tv screen . Wallpaper works, but that's about it.

I appreciate you letting us know that you don't see the cast button on your TV and that YouTube shows a connection when you click on the cast button, but nothing appears on the screen. Before I start further troubleshooting, let me ask you a few questions:

  • When did the inconvenience start?
  • Are you using an Android or an iPhone to manage your Chromecast?
  • Is your mobile device updated?
  • What is the model of your Chromecast? Here is a Google Help Center article that can help you to identify your device: Chromecast and Google TV Streamer specifications.
  • Is your Google Home app updated?
  • Have there been any recent changes to your WiFi network or home environment?
  • Is your Chromecast linked to a 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz WiFi network?
  • Is the Google Chrome browser updated on your laptop or computer? Here is a Google Help Center article to help you check for Google Chrome browser updates: Update Google Chrome
  • Is your Chromecast connected to the same WiFi network as your mobile device and your laptop or computer?
  • What is the make and model of your laptop or computer?
  • What is the OS version of your laptop or computer? 
  • Is there any installed antivirus, security, or firewall software on your laptop or computer that could be blocking the streaming tool? 
  • When you open the Google Chrome browser, can you see any alert symbol or message?
