Hiya, I’m close to travelling on holiday to visit family, and one of my family members have been asking for me to help them buy and setup a Google chromecast for them. I’m visiting chile and cannot find any searches or research about if the chromecast would or wouldn’t work in chile. I’ve found that they don’t have an official Google distributor and assumed that it wouldn’t work there. Is chile a supported country, and if not, would I still be able to use the chromecast as normal even if I use a UK model for example. Cheers

Chromecast devices are optimized to work best with specific Wi-Fi standards depending on where they are sold. This means if you buy a product in one country, it may not work as expected, or may not work at all, if you try to use it in a different country than where it was purchased.
Chromecast is not officially sold or supported in Chile. In fact, last year Google discontinued the Chromecast line, including all Chromecast devices with Google TV, replaced with the Google TV Streamer. Older Chromecast devices are still supported (excluding Chromecast 1st gen) but are not officially sold by Google anymore.
