Chromecast gen 2 connection issues (July '25)

Ever since the big issue with gen 2 CCs a few months ago, I have had issues with my CC disconnecting itself when casting from a mobile app to the TV. That doesn't stop playback, just means that I have to manually reconnect to use options like pause, etc. But there have been occasions where the device has disconnected and then failed to reconnect on multiple attempts. However, I have noticed when casting TV shows or films from Plex that the video and audio often stutters and clips, like the device is struggling to maintain connection. This only happens when casting to TV, if I play the same clip back on my phone--or any other device, the issue does not manifest. It seems worse on Plex but occasionally happens on Prime or Netflix, too. 

My mobile devices are Android. My Lap Top is Windows 11. Chromecast gen 2. All apps are up to date and I have cleared cache in all apps related to the issue.

 

Please advise.

I'm having the same issues with my chromecast, keeps losing wifi connection which I then have to go back to the home screen to reconnect.   Not losing connection with any of my other devices, not even with an older model of chromecast in my bedroom.  So frustrating!! Hoping someone can help!

Is anyone actually Working at google monitoring here?
Same issue as many persons.
I bought a CCwGTY when they broke regular old chromecast with certificate. now 1.5 year later they did it again!! will not buy streamer unless they repair what THEY broke.

I doubt they have real people watching these boards, it's probably all run by AI now.

Hi, Juan. The problem with 'stuttering' or buffering mostly happens during the opening and end credits of a film/show and when music is playing on the soundtrack (this leads me to believe the Chromecast device is struggling to process the audio coding format), but the device regularly disconnects itself - the stream remains but I have to manually reconnect the cast if I am to use any of the player controls like pause/skip. To answer your questions, all devices/apps are updated. My streaming device is connected to high speed WiFi I guess that's a 5GHz connection (How do I check that?). My gen 2 Chromecast is running the current firmware version.
