Chromecast internet issues

Well the last few weeks have been a journey. I've been having issues with streaming on my chromecast for roughly 3-4 weeks now. It all started with choppy video playback when watching a movie or a show. Then, I began having problems streaming my desktop to my chromecast using apollo/artemis/moonlight. My desktop stream used to be great. I would be able to stream my computer all day without any issues. Now, the stream freezes constantly. I've made every change I possible could to fix it and now I'm at the conclusion that the latest update for chromecast is the problem. I've also been having a consistent problem with my chromecast not connecting to wifi automatically after a restart. This is what almost confirms my issues are with the latest update. I have to forget the network, then reconnect again anytime the chromecast is restarted. It also seems to temporarily drop connection here and there, interrupting streams or increasing load times. I can't find a fix anywhere, and I've found other very recent posts from others saying practically the same thing. I hope there's plans for an update to fix all of this soon. It's incredibly frustrating. We use our chromecast every day. An update shouldn't half break major basic features. I can't even message Google. I get an error when I try

Hi Duffman9465,

Thanks for reaching out to the community. I understand you've been having trouble with your Chromecast over the past few weeks after the latest update. I can imagine how frustrating it is when a device you use daily for streaming starts having issues like choppy video, frozen desktop streams, and connection problems. I appreciate the troubleshooting efforts you've already made, and I can definitely help you get this sorted out.

To better investigate this situation, I'd appreciate it if you could provide the following information:

In the meantime, I’d suggest the following:

  • Check your connections: Make sure your casting device, TV or monitor, and Wi-Fi router are within 15 to 20 feet of each other to ensure a strong signal.
  • Update your software: Confirm that both your mobile device's operating system and the Google Home app are updated to the latest versions.
  • Restart your network: Reboot your router by unplugging it for two minutes, then plugging it back in. While you're at it, check your router's settings for any available firmware updates and install them, as these often fix connectivity issues.
  • Confirm the Wi-Fi band: If your router supports both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands, ensure that both your Chromecast and the device you're streaming from are connected to the same band.

I look forward to your reply.

Best regards,

Jenniffer
