Chromecast needs restarting every time once or twice

With my Android phone on, I start TV, then I wait until chromecast is connecting! But TV is not ready to receive my Android signals, I need to restart my mobile usually once, but some times twice, to be able to start casting. Mobile and chromecast is always on the same channel.

What do I need to do to avoid restarting mobile every time?

Firmware for the system 467165

Firmware for cast 1.56.467165

Hi Curre,

Thanks for posting in the community.

I see that you're having trouble connecting your Android phone with your Chromecast when your TV starts up. I understand how inconvenient it is to restart your Android phone, sometimes twice, to enable casting. I appreciate you for sharing your Chromecast firmware version and letting us know that your devices are connected to the same network. Don’t worry, help is here.

Please answer the following questions to help me figure this out:

  • What model of Chromecast device do you have? You can use this Google Help Center article to help identify your device: Chromecast and Google TV Streamer specifications.
  • Do you have the latest version of the Google Home app? If not, you can find helpful instructions in this Google Nest Help Center article: Update the Google Home app.
  • Is the Chromecast plugged correctly into the HDMI TV port and a power source?
  • Is your Chromecast powered by the TV USB port? or is it plugged into a power outlet?
  • How far from the router is the Chromecast?
  • What is the make and model of your Android phone?
  • Is your Android device operating system updated?
  • What is the make and model of your TV?
  • Have you tried to use a different HDMI port on the TV?
  • Have you tested your Chromecast device on another TV?

Please keep me posted.

Best regards,

Virna

Hi Curre,

Thank you for your timely response and the comprehensive information you've provided.

Based on this information, I am sharing some recommendations you can follow to resolve the connection issue between your Galaxy A52s and the Chromecast (2nd gen):

  • Reboot your Sony TV:  Unplug your TV from the power source for about one minute before plugging it back in.
  • Reboot the Chromecast device:
    • Unplug the power cable from the Chromecast device.
    • Leave it unplugged for one minute.
    • Plug the power cable back in.
  • Toggle Wi-Fi off and on on your Galaxy A52s.
  • If you have a dual-band router, try setting up Chromecast on either the 2.4 or 5 GHz bands.
  • Ensure that your Galaxy A52s is connected to the same Wi-Fi Network as your Chromecast. To check the Chromecast internet connection, please follow these instructions:
    • Open the Google Home app.
    • Select your Chromecast device.
    • Go to "Settings."
    • Select the option "Wi-Fi."
  • Check the proximity of your Sony TV, Galaxy A52s, and router. Ideally, they should be less than 15 to 20 feet apart from each other to minimize intervening obstructions, like walls, and improve the connection.
  • Check if your Galaxy A52s has a power saving setting. If it’s enabled, please disable it.

If the previous recommendations don’t resolve the issue, go to the next steps:

  • Restart your router:
    • Unplug the Wi-Fi router from the power source for 2 minutes.
    • Ensure that the router's lights turn off completely when unplugged.
    • Note: Some routers have backup battery packs, so it will be necessary to disconnect the battery packs as well to ensure that the router is completely turned off.
    • After 2 minutes, plug the router back into its power source.
    • Wait until all the router lights are back on and you can find the network name listed in the Wi-Fi options on your mobile device or computer.
    • Check if the issue was resolved; if not, continue to the next step.
  • Perform an internet speed test while you are casting from your Galaxy A52s to your TV, and check if you are getting the speed that your ISP (Internet Service Provider) offered you.

Please let me know how it goes.

Best regards,

Virna
