Chromecast no longer compatible with apps? Stan and ABC iview

A Chromecast we had for three years restarted one day and wouldn’t allow us to download Stan or ABC iview and it stated the device isn’t compatible with this version. We haven’t changed anything? My email address is listed in Australia where we’re using it. We went to buy a new Chromecast thinking it was just old… but same problem. I’ve tried clearing cache and uninstalling current updates but nothing is helping? Really fking annoying tbh

Hi danielleeabr,

Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community. I’m sorry for the trouble, and this is not the experience that we wanted you to have. Based on the message that the device isn’t compatible with this version, it seems that the changes happened in those apps. From the state where it was working to its newer version, which seems to be requiring a particular software or version on the platform (Google TV), it will not work unless changed. This means the app developers should have adapted to the current software or version of the Google TV platform or upgraded the app and sent codecs to Google, which will be included in the next update as a software patch. Such action would affect their market (users) on the Google TV platform.

I suggest you contact Stan and ABC iView about this. They might have forums just like this community, where users share their ways of getting it to work.

Thanks,

Kimy
