Chromecast not casting Disney + or Prime Video.

I saw a previous member asking the same question and back then you said you'd look into it. I have tried all the things you suggested in that post, but I still cannot cast shows from either, however, both connect and show all the available programs. You can select the programs, but as soon as you go to play them there's an error message saying 'something went wrong. Please try again, If you continue to have issues please visit our help centre'. There are no answers there to help fix the problem.

Can you help?

Check if your your display HDCP (HDMI copy protection) capable/enabled as those platforms will most probably require it to play content.

Is this still relevant if we can stream Stan, Netflix and others?

Hi folks,

Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community.

Appreciate your help here, @PowerJP.

@Nienna74, as suggested above, it could be that or related to the network. It could be the source server or DNS. There’s no problem with the internet connection since all other apps work. To isolate it, try to disconnect your Chromecast from your WiFi and connect it with another phone to your own phone’s mobile hotspot. Use the other phone to cast and observe if the same behavior will still occur. Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

Kimy

Hi, thanks for your reply. I did as you said and whether it’s my tv or not I could see my phones hotspot in the wifi list. I have tried rebooting everything, tv, chromecast, router, nothing will work. Also, although I can see my chromecast on my google home app, it says it’s not in the same wifi, but it definitely is. Very frustrated.

Sorry, couldn’t see the hotspot on the Wi-Fi list

Hi Nienna74,

Thanks for the reply. Let’s try this approach.

  1. Let’s do a full clean-up by performing a factory reset.
  2. Reinstall the Google Home app on your phone.
  3. Proceed with the setup, but don’t connect it to your home WiFi.
  4. Using a different phone, turn on the mobile hotspot. (For testing purposes only.)
  5. Continue with the setup, and this time connect your Chromecast device to the mobile hotspot of the other phone.
  6. Start casting all your apps (the previously working ones and the affected ones).

Let us know how it goes.

Regards,

Kimy
