Chromecast was working fine, then stopped casting Hulu or mirroring from Google home*. Netflix casts fine. I did the usual resets, no luck. It was older, so I bought a new Chromecast (Gen 3), got same problem. Strangely, on Home, the Chromecast screen image shows up on my phone (and cycles), but it won't cast the phone to the TV. Chrome is up to date. Chromecast light is white (and resetting it/Wi-Fi/modem does not fix problem). When I try to cast from Hulu (or mirror from Home) I get a gray screen. Eventually it tells me "something went wrong".
*The problems with Google Home mirroring only happen if I have first tried casting from Hulu. Resetting everthing brings it back online. More details in reply area.

I spent over an hour chatting with 2 different Hulu customer service people. Final result, after trying various restarts and system resets - they don't know either. I'm guessing a bug in their casting code. Maybe someday they'll update and fix it. Until then, apparently I'm using my laptop and an HDMI cable. Not impressed.

Hey there Lford,
Thank you for letting us know there is currently an issue with casting Hulu! Did they give you any kind of time-frame on a fix, or did you have any more questions or need any additional help?
Thank you,
Jeran

Nothing. The Hulu folks confirmed my equipment is fine, programs up to date, and that all the usual fixes (resets of everything, reloading the app, restarting modem/wifi/tv/chromecast/phone did not work. There's clearly a problem, but no one know what it is. From reading the community pages both here and on Hulu, it seems I'm not alone. On the Chromecast side, I bought a Gen 3 to replace my Gen 2. No difference.
The problem is almost certainly with Hulu - trying to cast it can also disable Google Home mirroring and sometimes Netflix. When that happens, resetting brings those two back to working properly. The problem started at the beginning of January. I don't know if there was some update that messed it up.

Hey there Lford,
I'm sorry about the late response on this thread, but I just wanted to double-check if you were still having that same Hulu casting issue, or if you had any other questions or concerns that you'd like me to address.
I look forward to your response!
Best regards,
Jeran

Well, I cancelled my Hulu account, if that counts as a fix. Just couldn't get it to work with Chromecast. Someday I'll buy a new TV and avoid the issue entirely.

Hey there Lford,
If an app was giving me so many issues, I would probably do the same as well. I'm sorry we weren't able to find a fix for you, but if you had any other questions we could address, I'd be happy to help out, just let me know!
Best regards,
Jeran

I had this same issue today and worked with Hulu to resolve. Oddly enough all I needed to do was completely re-set my internet and let it power down/up. Once I did that it started working again.
