Chromecast not connecting to Home App or Wifi

Brondix95

I try connecting Chromecast to Google Home App. If I do this using the home Wifi it does not work, so I try to connect using the Chromecast Wifi. This allows the setting up process to begin, but because Chromecast is not connected to any working Wifi the set up cannot be concluded. At one stage it allowed me to choose a Wifi to be used by the device, but when I input the correct Wifi details it would tell me join that Wifi. If I did this it would disconnect from the Chromecast device, ending the set-up unsuccessfully. Otherwise it would not connect to any Wifi. Now it has changed and when I connect to Chromecast using it’s own Wifi it asks what region I am in, however as mentioned, the Chromecast is not connected to a functional Wifi so this part of the set-up cannot be continued. How in all the seven bloody seas do I get out of this loop and make it work?

Even i have the same issue. Seems like google not worried about their product once sold. They even not bothered of giving some solution. Wifi working with every other device at home but not the chromecast. Pathetic....

Hey Jue,

That's no good to hear. Just to double-check, what color is the LED light on the Chromecast when you are trying to connect it? If your Chromecast is throwing an error, it could appear via the LED light.

When I have restarted it flashes red, currently kind of glowing white rather than a flashing

Hiya Jue,

What generation Chromecast do you have? Also, if you're trying to connect to a 5GHz network, you may want to change if the network band range is between 36-48, as anything higher would cause connection issues. You will also need to disable Access Point (AP) isolation, also known as "Client Isolation" or "Guest Mode," on your router.

I look forward to hearing from you again.

Jeran

Not tries yet, struggle to access my router, it's asking for username and password but it's not my sky one.  Been told today it's username Admin and password Sky?

Hiya Jue,

You may need to contact your ISP to access your router settings if you cannot get in. We wouldn't know what your router credentials would be, unfortunately.

Jeran

I don't know of what yoh have suggested works yet as I can't log onto my router.

Once I've managed to access, I'll.let you know.

I don't understand why it was working fine one day and then not the next?

Hi Jue,

Thanks for the update. It is possible that your router received a software update that changed some settings on your router. Moving forward, I'll keep the thread open for a few more days, so you'll have enough time to check your router settings.

Cheers,

Muddi
