Chromecast not connecting to wi fi

Chromecast (gen 1) worked fine a longtime. All of a sudden quit. I tried to reinstall it using googlehome  app on my ipad. I reset the device to factory settings, and continued normally. Everything went okay; app found the device, the code on the app matched the one on the tv, connected to the chromecast, then app said it connected to the wi fi but ended with the message “ something went wrong” and installation failed. My Nest mesh network works fine. I rebooted my router, reinstalled the google home app, restarted my ipad, tried with my iPhone running googlehome app, disabled my Avast firework to no avail. It still goes thru the installation normally but ends with “ something went wrong”

Having a hard time getting any help from google.

can anyone help?

I’ve followed ALL the steps multiple times including factory reset. Done everything right and it says connected. But then I get this:

Living Room TV may be set up, but we could not communicate with it from your iPhone. Make sure that you have enabled local network access in your iPhone’s privacy settings. Then try again.

so I tried again, and again. Was working last week. We have had a power outage in the interim time. That’s the only change.
Oh I also updated the Google Home App.

Thoughts Google?

I have the same exact problem. 2 days ago I come home, turn on my tv but can’t cast from my iPhone to the tv. I delete the chrome cast in google home app to reinstall,  but get the “something went wrong” when I try to connect to WiFi. Have reset router, chromecast, iPhone, google home app. Google help please

Does anyone ever read the sticky posts? You all have the same problem everyone with the 2nd gen chromecast has.

Hi Umitakinc,

Thank you for posting in the community. I understand that you're having trouble setting up your Chromecast 1st Gen with the Google Home app.

I'm so sorry to hear about the situation you're experiencing when trying to connect your Chromecast 1st gen. Unfortunately, support for this device has ended, which customers will notice over time as a decrease in device functionality as it no longer receives software or security updates. It is recommended to upgrade to a newer Chromecast to continue updates and support, ensuring compatibility with current applications and services.

Please let me know if you have any further questions.

Regards,

Kevin

Why didn't I think about that?
