Two of my Chromecast devices show up in local devices but not in settings on my Android phone app. It's not possible to edit or make changes to the Chromecast configuration. I cannot remove them and I cannot change them.
However when I try to cast I can see both chromecasts ready to cast. I would like to modify the names but it's not possible until they show up in settings.

Hi EddyB,
Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community. Kindly help us understand what this Android phone app is that you’re talking about. Chromecast devices and other Google Nest hardware are usually set up using the Google Home App. That is where you can modify or rename them. If you were able to cast to these Chromecast devices, then it is fully set up and working as intended. Kindly give us more details so we can help further.
We look forward to your response.
Thanks,
Kimy

Hi Kimy, thanks for the response. I am using the Google Home App. 2 of the 5 Chromecast devices were showing in Local Devices instead of the respective rooms they were originally setup in. When that happens, I can no longer modify them in Settings on that app. The only way to fix it is to reset them to factory defaults and reinstall them, which I did. It's a pain in the neck to have to constantly reset these devices. I am good for now, but please improve the reliability and/or flexibility of that app. Thanks.

Hello EddyB,
Thanks for the reply. I’m glad that you finally sorted this out. Chances are, those two Chromecast devices were set up but not on the same band (2.4 GHz or 5 GHz) as the other three. It could also be the router, as some routers have smart band steering capability. Let us know if you have other concerns with your Chromecast devices.
Cheers,
Kimy
