I have been successfully casting PC screen to TV with Chromecast second gen for years. There is always some glitching with the audio so I decided to try ethernet adapter. Once I connect the chromecast to the ethernet adapter I cannot select the device for casting the screen. I get the prompt "available for select video sites". If I go to youtube I can select my TV but it still won't cast. I have rebooted the chromecast, no luck. I tried a factory reset but then my google app could not find my chromecast device to setup while it was attached to ethernet. I disconnected ethernet and then it found the device. I set it up again and the wireless options work fine again. I reattached to the ethernet and get the same problems. I have been searching the internet and see similar issues but did not find any solutions that worked for this specific problem. Any suggestions?
Thanks

Hi smp54,
Thanks for posting and for being a step ahead of us. What Chromecast device are you using? Technically, only the Chromecast Ultra and Chromecast with Google TV versions have the feature to utilize Ethernet connectivity. But all Chromecast devices are designed to work with Wi-Fi. Based on your description, casting from devices connected via Wi-Fi is done with no problems. It’s clear that the Chromecast device is working as intended. The purpose of the Ethernet connection for Chromecast Ultra and Google TV versions is to increase bandwidth (for stability), but this may not be applicable to or may work differently on an older or lower version of Chromecast.
Let us know if you have other questions or concerns.
