Chromecast on School Network

We are in the process of deploying new Chromecasts with Cast Moderator on our school networks. I think everything is configured correctly. We can see the moderator, connect with the access code, etc. However, the new Chromecasts keep disconnecting from the network (we are testing with two). They will connect, then we create a moderated connection, then it disconnects, etc.  We have used the old version of the Chromecast with few issues for years.

Hi mdoud,

Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community. The Chromecast devices are all designed to work in a secured, non-complex home Wi-Fi type of network (WLAN). Some users (with the help of tech vloggers and/or YouTube) find ways to get it to work on a more complicated type of network, but it’s more of a go-figure-out situation. Use this link: Locate your Chromecast MAC address if you’ll need that information. Determine first if the Chromecast device is functional by testing it on home Wi-Fi or a phone’s mobile hotspot. If it’s working well on the network it’s designed to work with, then you can figure it out from there once you try it on a more complex network.

Let us know if you have other questions or concerns.

Thanks,

Kimy
