Chromecast or remote not working

Hi, so I don't know if it's my Chromecast or Chromecast remote not working. 

I've reset the actual Chromecast by holding down the bottom till it's orange and then blinking white. I've taken the batteries out of the remote (and tried other batteries) while holding the home button and inserting them till it's pulsing white. But then it pulses quickly a few times and turns off. I've tried holding the back and home buttons but it's pulses quickly a few times and turns off. There's nothing happening on my tv screen. I'm truly at a loss and this happened last year but I can't remember what I did. Please help!!!

I apologize for the late response, and thank you for being patient! Were you able to fix that remote issue? If not, I'd be happy to help you out. So, when you turn on your Chromecast device, you don't see anything on the TV screen? Just to be safe, I would change the HDMI port that the Chromecast is plugged into, to make sure there aren't any issues with that port. It may also help to try a different HDMI cable, just to rule out any potential hardware issue.
