Hi,
I've been running Chrome on the Macbook and Chromecast on the TV for years now and didn't change a thing. While all is fine as long as Chromecast grabs the videos by itself (such as with Netflix for example), mirroring a tab with a video stopped working last week. The video on the TV freezes immediately but the audio keeps going correctly.
It is not a network issue as everyting still works well on all other Macbooks in the house and again, nothing has been changed. Chrome is up to date as well, Chromecast was resetted, everything rebooted multiple times.
Interesting fact - when I cast to a Chromecast music device for a few seconds and then swith back to the Chromecast on the TV, it works for about 10 seconds but then the pucture freezes again.
Any help would be appreciated as this is our "TV Mac" and it woud be nice if that connection would be working normally again. Thanks!

The solution for me was to disable the option in settings, under system (Settings>Systems) named "Use graphic acceleration when available" on Google Chrome
This fixed my whole screen being frozen while audio continued as I was casting to the TV. Hope this helps 🙂

Hi! This worked on my Mac too 🙂
I found this solution yesterday while looking for a similar issue on my Windows 10 computer, also using Chrome ver 128 (latest) and worked! Now tested on my mac Catalina, and sorted! 🙂

It's worked for me as well. I'm on MAC Big Sur 11.7.10
Shdesign you had sort out a problem no one from Google itself was able to address(or care for it).
Thank you so much.
