Chromecast update

Hi,

I've been having issues with Kayo, I'm pretty sure my chromecast is not first gen but I'm not sure which version it is. Kayo have suggested I update the firmware on the home app, but I can't find the device in the home app to update it.

I tap on devices and there's only 'add device', or I tap settings and can't find the chromecast.

Information, the cast is plugged in and set up, in fact I'm casting kayo now.

Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community. Click this link to learn about the Chromecast devices that you are using. You may as well reinstall your Google Home app on your phone, do a factory reset, and then set it up again from scratch. Let us know how it goes.

So it looks like my chromecast is the first one, going by the colour, is that gen1? If so Kayo suggest it's not up to task.

I did try a manual reset but no better, seems I only have issues with Kayo though

Hello TrickyD,
 

Chromecast (1st gen) looks like a flash drive. Is that the kind of device you have? If yes, support for Chromecast (1st gen) has ended, which means these devices no longer receive software or security updates, and Google does not provide technical support for them. The last firmware update Chromecast (1st gen) had was 1.36.159268. If not, can you tell us more about what’s happening and why you need a firmware update, so we can further look into it?
